In this episode, Cheyenne is urging Van to go to church and he is making excuses on why not to go. Reba tries to get out of Van why he won't go, and he tells her he does not believe in God. She then goes to the Reverend to find out how to help Van.
Wow! This episode is probably one of my favorites. I love the show in it's entirety, but this episode is fantastic. Van blurts out that he doesn't want to go to church because he doesn't believe in God. Of course, Reba is furious and takes him to the Reverend. The reverend, though, handled the situation wonderfully. I loved when he told her that he can't help someone who doesn't want help. My favorite part of the show was at the end when Reba is walking out the door to go to church and she says to Van that she doesn't think that he doesn't believe in God, she just thinks he is mad at God. I really believe, being a christian myself, that in reality a lot of people feel the same way. They say they don't believe in Him, but most people are upset because of circumstances they have endured during their lifetime. Reba was remarkable when she tells Van that she was once mad at God too, but that she learned that God waits on us when we are mad at him. The truth, in all its honor, was laid out for each and every person at that moment. Great job! That is something we all need to hear, believer or not. We all will go through things we don't understand, but keeping our faith in God is what will get us through it. I have loved Reba McEntire since I was a little girl, and seeing her do this show is great, but moreso, I see the role she plays, and the beliefs that she has, and that in itself is a blessing.
