Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • Actually, this scene is suppose to take place 8 years ago, so Kyra's age was correct. A more appropriate goof would've been that Reba hired Barbra Jean, but in season one, Brock said her hired her 10 months ago.

    • The flashback scene is also of the Harts moving into the house. However in It Ain't Over Till The Redhead Sings they show a flashback of a 5-year old Cheyenne in the same house.

Another flashback scene shows Cheyenne's room. It has posters of the Dallas Cowboys and Van's football number. Both of these weren't in the Pilot episode, and didn't get placed in the room until after Van and Cheyenne got married.

Production oops: When Kyra opens the front door to leave, you can see the seam of the backdrop running up through the "grass" across the street.

    • The flashbacks supposedly took place during 1999, a year before Reba and Brock got divorced. Yet Kyra seemed to be more than one or two years younger than she is presently.

  • QUOTES (8)

    • Reba: Brock, I know you have problems saying no to your children and other women and a second helping of cake.
Brock: I have said no to plenty of other women and some of them have come out of a big cake.
Reba: Okay when Kyra comes down, let me do all the talking and you just nod.
      Brock: Reba-
Reba: Your lips don't move when you're nodding.

    • Reba: There are millions of planets, circling around millions of suns, and ---
Kyra: And that point, is not me. I know mom, I told that to Barbra Jean.

    • Kyra: Oh, so now you're gonna cry.
Cheyenne: (while crying) No I'm not gonna cry.
Kyra: Oh, c'mon, like that's the worst thing I've said to you.
Van: Although, it is right up there with Mrs. Forrest Gump.

    • Cheyenne: (crying) Okay,I get it, I'm a horrible person.
Kyra: (starts crying) Stop it OK?! I didn't mean for you to cry.
      Cheyenne: Yes you did!
Kyra: OK I did, but now I just want you tostop!
Van: Why are you guys so crazy?!(starts crying and hugging them)
(then Brock an Barbra Jean enter the room then Barbra Jean cries)
      Brock: Hey why's everyone crying?
Barbra Jean: It's okay we're getting new furniture.
      (Brock starts to cry)

    • Van: God has a great sense of humor. I mean just look at Ostriches!!

    • (In a flashback scene, where Reba and Brock are still married)
Reba: (to Barbara Jean) I hired you because I like you, and no matter what you do, I will always like you.
      Barbara Jean: Really?
      Reba: Cross my heart.

    • Barbra Jean: Reba did you know that the universe contains millions of planets?
Reba: And yet Earth is the one your ship landed on
Barbra Jean: Millions of planets revolving around millions of suns revolving around millions of galaxies all revolving around one point in the center of the universe.
      Reba: And?
Barbra Jean: That point.... IS NOT YOU!

    • (In a flashback scene, when Reba and Brock were still married)
Brock: (About Barbara Jean) Man, I pitty the poor guy who ends up marrying her!

  • NOTES (8)

  • ALLUSIONS (3)

    • Van: (To Cheyenne) Luke, I am your father.
This is a line Darth Vader says to Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.

    • "Don't come back until you can buy yourself a heart, TIN MAN!"
Cheyenne is referring to the 1939 movie titled, The Wizard of Oz.. It starred Judy Garland, the mother of Liza Minelli.

    • Tittle: She's Leaving Home, Bye-Bye
This title may be a reference to the song of the same name by The Beatles off their album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (track 6). The song is about a mother and father dealing with the fact that their daughter has left them a note and has left home.
