  • ReBoot came to an end, and what a way to finish it, on a cliff hanger.

    8.0
I was always a fan of ReBoot since the very beginning of the show. Hearing that the show was ending was sad, and being in Australia we didn\\\'t get the fourth season here but I finally got to see it in 2004.

Now first off I was glad that Megabyte made is return which is something I dreamt of after the third season and knew he would come back if a fourth was made.

Everything that happened in the episode before was a great lead up to this one (Megabyte disguised as Bob, and real Bob coming back to life or whatever with the help from the key tools).

Though I felt that this episode lacked a few things but the ending was great, with Megabyte taking over the Princible Office..but what pissed me off was this would be the final episode we would ever see, and sad that we will never know what happened. That was the only thing I hated about it.moreless
  • Megabyte is back once again, and has new powers. Bob and friends try to stop him, but manages to get into the Principle office, and plans to take control over Mainframe again. Everyone is escaping this evil by an inch, but Megabyte is ready to hunt them dmoreless

...or is it a series finale...? I mean, it's been almost 4 years nows, and no plans on making a fifth season to conclude the series. Megabyte's last line is: "Prepair yourselves...for the hunt!" What is "the hunt?" I'd thought they would continue...but I guess we'll never know "the hunt!"
  • The 2nd best episode in the Series! Only one episode can top this!

Who would've guessed it would end this way? I certainly didn't. Many devoted ReBoot fans are frustrated with the way this episode ended (me included). The words," Prepare yourselves..for the HUNT!!" rin in the ears if many viewers even 'till this day, hoping Mainframe will continue where they left off and make more episodes relating to this "hunt" Megabyte speaks of. When Bob and Matrix started scanning Megabyte's data to reprogram him, that's when the episode started to get really good and may have even had some fans worried, possibly scared, or anticpating the next few seconds of the episode, wondering what would happen.

I, personally, give props to Mainframe for such an effective conclusion (just hear me out). Think about it. The cliffhanger was so effective, it has enabled many long-term and short-term ReBoot fans to anxiously anticpate for the next episodes to follow. Also, be optimistic about it. Think about how viewers would've felt if Mainframe ended the whole series, or left the series with a cliffhanger, at any of the following episodes:

    -Web World Wars

-Game Over (People would be very ticked)

    -Mousetrap

    -End Prog.

    -Sacrifice

In all these cases, viewers would've probably been more frustrated or ticked off if Mainframe ended the series (or left it like a cliffhanger like with this episode) with any of the above episodes.

All in all, though, Crouching Binome, Hidden Virus is an episode no fan should miss. Despite the imminent frustration that lies at the end of the episode, ever viewer will certainly love this episode--I can guarantee it!

  • The return of a villian, the possible ending of a character and questions unanswered. Good cliffhanger....

    9.0
When I watched this episode the other day, a few questions came to mind. Megabyte is back, right? Well, so what? What happens next? And Enzo, is it the end of him? What happens to Mainframe?

WAYYY too many questions and it's been 4 years now with no answers. We need Season 4 to continue and until then, we will be making assumptions.

    Good episode, bad ending.

  • the end or not?

when i first saw the end of this episode i was curious, as well as mad. they brought back megabyte but with no proper ending..... they sahould've at least included a prologue at the end. i still have one query... what happens in the end? what happens to the captured little enzo? what happenbs to mainframe? i have no doubt that all of you have these thoughts in your head... in closing ji have 3 words BRING IT BACKmoreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (6)

    • In this episode, it is quite clear that Al's Waiter is always the victim of something (Web Creature in Web World Wars, and, in this episode to Megabyte).

    • When Dot and Bob are talking with Turbo, in "What's Love Got to Do With It?", a guard can be seen bringing in a neo-viral. But he re-appears in this episode! How can that be?!

    • In "Infected" (Season 2, Episode 1), Phong said he couldn't be infected by Megabyte. So, when he sacrificed his life to save AndrAIa and Mouse in the Principal Office, was he infected? If he was, why didn't the tubes/tentacles (don't know what else to call them!) stick to Phong like they did everyone else?

    • Where did the Good Doctor and Franken-binome come from? Didn't Hexadecimal make them into her cookies in "End Prog?"

    • It's looks like some things are eternal. Watch Glitch during the first scene in the Principal Office. During a few points (See aminorglitch.com 'Overanalysis Theater' for the exact point) they forget to include Glitch.

    • In response to the "Good Doctor & Frankenbinome" goof:

Megabyte was able to create Aliases BEFORE going Trojan Horse--See "System Crash." It would make some sense that he left behind another "failsafe" by having them be recreated as Virals--as opposed to un-infected.

  • QUOTES (8)

    • Bob: Dot! We don't have Megabyte. It was an alias. He must be in the war room with you.

    • Mike the TV: Be alarmed! Be very alarmed! Megabyte has returned to Mainframe!

    • Matrix: Megabyte's back, uglier than before, with some new tricks from the Web.

    • Megabyte: I assume I have the lovely Dot Matrix to thank for my present circumstances.
Bob: Seems fair. After what you tried to do to her!

    • Megabyte: You know, I really must congratulate you, Bob, it was the perfect trap.
Bob: Thank you, but I can't take the credit.

    • Megabyte: "So, I won't be a virus...ah, so, a fate worse than deletion. And they call me a monster."

    • Phong: Where DOES he get those ABCs from?

    • Megabyte: Attention. As you are no doubt aware, the Principle Office is now under my complete control. You're probably looking forward to one of my erudite speeches about me, Megaframe, the new viral dawn, et cetera et cetera. But I'm afraid I'm going to have to disappoint you. There is no grand scheme here. This is about revenge. Viruses are predatory by design. And it is time for me to follow my function. Prepare yourselves... for the hunt!

  • NOTES (7)

  • ALLUSIONS (3)

    • Mike the TV: Be alarmed! Be very alarmed!

Allusion to the 1986 horror movie The Fly, starring Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis. When Goldblum's character begins transforming into an insect creature, he tells Davis' character not to be afraid. She replies, "No. Be afraid. Be very afraid."

    • Episode Title: Crouching Binome, Hidden Virus.
The title is an allusion to the show/movie, "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon".

    • Mike: "Is that really your pussy, Mrs. Slocombe?"
This is a reference to the British comedy series, "Are You Being Served?".
