After seeing this, the second episode of Rebus with Mr Stott as our loved sleuth, i feel that i missed something. Maybe you need to have read the book to really appreciate Fleshmarket closed but i just didnt get dragged into the story. Dont get me wrong, its still good but not as engaging. I like the worn down setting and the social realism thats all over the place. But it doesnt capture me, makes me start to guess or see another one straight away. But Rebus got a very high "low level" and its still entertaining to watch.
Also the characters seems to be a bit stereotypical. Thughs with dogs, sweatpants and stupid sidekicks. How about for once, make them more than one dimensional because, as you will see, that is the case.
But, Stott lifts the ensemble and breaths some spirit into it.moreless

Now this one I did enjoy. Maybe because the script writers went all the way to Fife and did a bit of filming there. The acting in this one is better than previous. The ending is particularly good and as I don't like heights, it scared the pants off me, but there you go. The only down side ,and you would only know this if you know the area is where Rebus and one of the asylum seekers are walking supposedly along Portobello Beach, the bridge in the back ground is nowhere near the Forth Road Bridge , to be honest it looked like the Erskine Bridge over Glasgow way ( the series is partly filmed in Glasgow and Edinburgh. But please don't let me put you off.moreless
