  • A Saturday morning live music variety show which broadcast nationally around Australia on ABC TV.

    9.0
This ground-breaking weekly 3 hour show was the first to bring alternative culture to Australias TV screens, featuring live performances from bands like Sonic Youth, Weezer, Public Enemy, Ben Harper, Pulp and hundreds more. Interview guests ranged from Tim Burton and Peter Jackson to Russell Crowe and George Clooney. The show was quite literally organised kaos, and I'm being quite generous in using the word organised. Having said that, it was this mayhem that gave the show it's charm and differentiated it from anything else on television at the time. The show was live and jam packed with content which ranged from bloody ordinary to brilliantly innovative and edgy. In addition to the live music acts and interviews there was stand-up, animations, sketches, film and music reviews, field documentaries, and comedy characters to name just a few. The show also kick-started dozens of careers on both sides of the camera including TV and Radio broadcaster Dylan Lewis, popular Australian actor Angus Sampson, UK and Aussie radio broadcaster Jane Gazzo and Hollywood actor and Screenwriter Leigh Whannell. Recovery is sadly missed and has yet to be replaced on Australian screens.moreless
