6/1/09Session one comes to an end for the student recruits at Goulburn who are told that they are now at the half way mark on the journey to becoming a police officer. The recruits nervously embark on a two-week field placement working alongside officers on the beat.
5/25/09In Sydney, two Probationary Constables get their first taste of what it's like policing Sydney's biggest event of the year: Mardi Gras. A teeming mass of 300,000 partygoers converge in Sydney's city to celebrate.
5/18/09Probationary Constable Chris Swadling spends a shift dealing with some of Sydney's more challenging residents. From attending a mental-health incident in Hyde Park, to a woman hearing 'voices' outside her flat and a confrontation at Central Station, he gets a no-holds- barred introduction to the reality of day to day policing. Country girl Emma Byrne also gets a shock introduction to life in Kings Cross, when her team are confronted with a bleeding woman overdosing in an alley way. Meanwhile at college, the student recruits are getting a reality check of their own. Anthony Toomey gets his first taste of dealing with a mentally ill person and Dean Engert is asked to deliver the message that every parent fears – a death knock. And for one student recruit, their policing career comes to an abrupt end.moreless
5/11/09Probationary Constable Cristina Cidade is a keen kickboxer – skills she's hoping will help keep her safe on the beat in Sydney. Called to a violent arrest, she's confronted with a suspect who's running from police – and does not want to be caught.
5/4/09After eight intensive and challenging months of training, 388 new police recruits celebrate their long awaited gradation at Goulbourn Police College, NSW. 19 year old Probationary Constable Vanessa Cook gets right into the action after immediately being posted to Sydney's City Central station, the states biggest and busiest command. Her skills are tested and put to use when she encounters a serious stabbing. Chris Swadling, also sent to the same station is called to a mysterious code red job and he races to the scene not knowing what to expect. As all of this happens, a new hopeful bunch of recruits start their long training journey at the Police College.moreless
