Hudzen's scanner classifies The Cat's race as "Felix Sapiens", when they are actually called "Felis Sapiens".
Q: The new mechonoid stated that Rimmer was a viable target, why was Rimmer scared when he's a hologram and the bullet wouldn't harm him?
A: As shown when the crew met Legion, Rimmer's holographic body contains a projection device that floats at about heart height. If that had been hit by the bullets and seriously damaged, it could have meant 'death'.
A2: The other thing, if you didn't know, whether he's a hologram or not, he his cowardly
Near the end of this Episode Kryten states that ke knew he was lying about Silicon Heavon. If that's the case then why was Lister trying to teach Kryten to lie in the Episode Camile?
Lister: "To the leaseholder of Kryten 2X4B 523P." What, that's your full name, is it?
Kryten: Yes. Personally, I don't much like the "2X4B" part; I think it's a jerky middle name. Still, it could be worse. I once knew an android whose middle name was 2Q4B. Poor sucker!
Rimmer: (About Kryten) At least he gets 24 hours notice. All most of us get is "Mind that bus. What bus?" Splat!
(After a long night of partying -- All groaning and starting to awaken)
Kryten: Is it just me, or is that cockroach shuffling too loudly?
Rimmer: Kryten, it's called a hangover, don't panic.
Lister: We're on a mining ship, three million years into deep space -- can someone explain to me where the smeg I got this traffic cone?
Cat: Hey! It's not a good night unless you get a traffic cone! It's the police woman's helmet and the suspenders I don't understand!
Kryten: (Waking up after a night of partying) Oh, my goodness... Oh, my head! Oh, what happened to me? Damage control report! (Pulling ticker tape from slot in chest & reading aloud) "Dehydration level: 45%. Recall of previous evening: 2%. Embarrassment factor: 91%! Advised repair schedule: reboot startup disc, offline for 36 hours and replace head." Boy, what a night!
Hudson 10: No such place as silicon heaven?
Holly: The whole thing's all a big con.
Lister : There's no such place as silicon heaven.
Kryten : But where do all the calculators go?
Rimmer: I don't know where you came from , and frankly I don't much care. But if you don't skidaddle pronto , you're going to see a side of me you're not going to like.
Lister: What's he gonna do , drop his trousers?
Lister: That is completely whacko jacko.
Lister: We're on a mining ship, 3,000,000 years from earth, will sombody tell me where the smeg I got this traffic cone!
Kryten: Surely you believe that god is in all things? Aren't you a pantheist?
Lister: Yeah, but I just don't think it applies to kitchen utensils. I'm not a frying pantheist!
Kryten: No silicon heaven? But where do all the calculators go?
Kryten: You would gamble your safety for a mere android? Is this the human value you call "friendship?"
Lister: Don't give me the Star Trek crap. It's too early in the morning.
Rimmer: Maybe I should talk to him. Maybe he needs a bit of counselling.
Rimmer: I used to be in the Samaritans.
Lister: I know. For one morning.
Rimmer: Well, I couldn't take any more.
Lister: I don't blame you. You spoke to five people, and they all committed suicide. I wouldn't mind, but one was a wrong number! He only phoned up for the cricket scores!
Rimmer: Well, it's hardly my fault that everyone chose that morning to throw themselves off buildings! Made the papers, you know. "Lemming Sunday," they called it.
When Lister is reading manual to Kryten, it describes him as "Series III", not "Series 4000" as his production line will be called in all subsequent episodes.
The mould for Hudzen's helmet would later be used in season 8 for the helmets worn by Red Dwarf's prison guards.
Hudson's helmet was originally 1 of a few helmets made and used in the 1982 Dr Who story "Earthshock". Both the goggles and mask were part of the helmet.
The helmets were repainted used again in 2 more Dr who stories.
This episode contains Robert Llewelyn's first appearance outside of the Kryten costume.
This episode was written to replace the pregnancy-resolving storyline that was shelved at the beginning of the series.
We learn of the morning that Rimmer spent on the Samaritans switchboard - when he drove all five callers to suicide, despite one being a wrong number! A similar experience was suffered by Gordon Brittas in The Brittas Empire (also played by Chris Barrie), right down to the wrong number.
Jim Reaper's name is a play on the name of the mythical "Grim Reaper". (fitting, considering Jim is the harbinger of Kryten's intended death).
Lister: Don't give me that Star Trek crap. It's too early in the morning!
More specifically, this quote plays on the character Data, an android character from the Star Trek: Next Generation series. Data was often seen attempting to understand the nuances of humanity and responding to interactions between people by juxtaposing vague, prying, or difficult questions.
On ST:TNG, the crew was actually a crew -- they defended each other when things got rough.
Rimmer: He's not like that stupid thing Peterson bought on Callisto.
Callisto is the second largest moon orbiting Jupiter, at 4800 km in diameter. It was discovered by Galileo and Marius in 1610. It is named after one of Zeus' lovers from Greek Mythology who was placed in the sky as the constellation Ursa Major.
Kryten: For is it not written in the Electronic Bible, "The iron shall lie down with the lamp?"
A play on the bible verse "the lion shall lie down with the lamb" meaning that all creatures will coexist together in the afterlife, whether they be friends or enemies.
Lister: Silicon Heaven? Has it got anything to do with being stuck opposite Bridgette Nielson in a packed lift?
Bridgette Neilsen is a Danish actress and singer, and former wife of Sylvester Stallone. She is more famous for her striking height (6'1") and breast implants rather than her acting which includes Red Sonja (1985), Cobra (1986), and Beverly Hills Cop 2 (1987).
