Two words which have been said numerous times in Reign and which would never have been used in daily conversation in the 1500s are "sex" and "pregnancy."

Pregnancy would have been referred to as "with child," "in a family way" or "quickening of the womb."

Sexual intercourse would have been referred to as "carnal knowledge," "laying with someone" or fornication. I don't know when the Anglo-Saxon F word came into common usage in reference to intercourse, and I think it didn't assume its all-purpose disgusting curse word status until the mid 20th century.

Also, there's an implication of condom usage-when Kenna described that Henry would never allow her to get with child, because he "covers it" -those were her words. Very interesting.......and if that's the case, Francis should have checked his dad's nightstand for those Trojans a long time ago! lol
