Episode Summary

The series begins with the four Sorelli sisters in the midst of their very complicated lives together. Oldest sister Ginnie, a high powered attorney is having difficulty on telling her husband that they are having a baby. Ann (guest star Laura San Giacomo) is dealing with the fact that her longterm relationship with her boyfriend Danny (guest star Jon Hamm) may be over. Marjee is in a rut on finding a restaurant to host a Pug Dog Benefit featuring Jillian Barbaree that will have live dogs. Also, college student Rose is having a hard time telling the family that she has switched college majors from Pre-Med to the Experimental Theatre Ring. While all the sisters lives are in a rut they also have to plan their father's engagement party as he is remarrying to a woman that they don't particularly care for.moreless

A new Anne was a smart move

No offense to the orginial Anne because I loved her in Just Shoot Me, but she would not have made a good Anne Sorelli. I think the Kiele Sanchez taking over the role of Anne was a very smart move. Also in the orginial pilot Anne was the eldest sister and Ginnie the second born. The other difference was minor, Rose's hair was black and white striped in the end instead of blue.moreless

Thank Goodness we got different actresses/actors for the AIRED pilot.........and for the rest of the series.......because the current cast is superb and perfect chemistry..........well, except the dude playing Bob, but I can live with him! =}

Is it just me or can anyone else distrinugish Jennifer Esposito as Gennie from the Lt. role of her Taxi "feel up"!?

I just the original pilot that won't air with Laura San Giacomo as the original Ann Sorelli and it was actually really good, and I'm a guy saying this.

Although I do understand why the WB decided to replace Laura San Giacomo as the role of Ann Somelli. She didn't seem to have the same chemistry as the other 3 girls and seemed a lot older than they did. She seemed more motherley than sisterly, which is important for this show.

But even with the minor miscasting the pilot is done pretty well and in a realistic way. Thefutoncritic who reviewed the show not too long ago was WAY off on his analysis of the pilot.

But no worries, the pilot we both saw won't be the one that airs as it's being heavily reshot due to the Laura San Giacomo being taken away and adding Kiele Sanchez as Ann Sorelli as well as changing the character's occupation.moreless

Ok, I was curious about what to expect of this series so I dowloaded the Unaired-Pilot. This episode was alright; but I do see a lot of SATC (=sex and the city) things back in the episode but without the sex part, and it also has a comedy effect. I mean, I did like the series but I jus had a feeling 'been-there, done-that, seen-this'. Well, I guess this will be considered as a good show and I'm very curious about what changes have been made in the Pilot Episode since Laura San Giacomo has left.moreless

- The character of Ann Sorelli was played by Laura San Giacomo (Just Shoot Me). She was later replaced by Kiele Sanchez (Married to the Kellys).
  
  WB Entertainment president David Janollari said that San Giacomo left the show for "creative reasons". Zap2it speculates that the character of Ann Sorelli will now be younger. The character is/was supposed to be the older one of the sisters (33). San Giacomo is 42, and while Sanchez's birth year is unknown, she usually portrays characters in their twenties.
