Author and conspiracy theorist Vladimir Bugos contacts Sydney and Nigel to locate the Golden Falcon of Maribor, a relic last seen the night Crown Princess Natasha, its owner, disappeared about 400 years ago. Not impressed by Bugos' reputation, they are swayed by a map he has discovered, and they head into the Carpathian Mountains despite of werewolves to bag the Falcon.moreless

Another relic hunter tells Sydney that he is about to find the Golden Falcon of Maribor - but he disappears soon after. Sydney and Nigel try to track him down in some isolated country town but the villagers prove to be very unhelpful. With an ancient map, Sydney and Nigel follow the route taken by a royal princess (who last held the Falcon) -before she mysteriously vanished. They are distracted by the death of man who appears to have been mauled. The villagers try to force them to leave - with stories of werewolves in the forest. But Sydney and Nigel persist and at night, they continue to follow the route and end up in a cave. They find the missing relic hunter - and the remains of the royal party and the royal coach. They search the coach for the Falcon and find it in a hidden compartment. As they leave the cave, they are attacked by a werewolf. But as Sydney fights it off - they realise that its one of the villagers - dressed in fur - trying to scare them off. Then the other villagers appear and threaten to kill them. But a mysterious roar is heard by all and the villagers run off...

After a few unsatisfactory episodes, this story puts Sydney and Nigel back where they belong - looking for relics. The plot of the story is well written. The village itself looks great - very isolated, wet and dark. Also, there is a great scene where Nigel is looking very uncomfortable as Sydney searches the skeletal remains of the royal princess for a key!moreless
