Episode Summary

Under the Ice
Event: ARCTIC CIRCLE 1355 A.D.

Sydney and Nigel are called to an Antarctic research base. Traveling there with a mechanic and an accountant (actually a secret NIA agent), they find the corpses of the research team scattered everywhere. It turns out the researchers had found a frozen Anasazi Indian, who became extinct for unknown reasons. They find one survivor, Eleanor. They discover that the Anasazi mummy is infected with a virus that causes outbreaks of violent insanity (and which wiped out the Anasazi), but Eleanor has a natural immunity. While Nigel and Eleanor try to contain the virus using cold, they discover another survivor, Rollin Harley, who thawed out the Anasazi to profit from the virus and is willing to kill. He murders the two men and traps Sydney on the surface, but she manages to get back into the base. Syd and Nigel manage to take out Harley.moreless

  • Sydney and Nigel become involved with an ancient Mummy in an Antarctic base.

Somehow, Sydney and Nigel go to the Antarctic with two men to find out what has happened at the Base. After much running around with torches, they discover a disorientated survivor (Eleanor) and a frozen Mummy. Everyone else is dead or missing and the two men are soon killed too. Eleanor recovers and tells Sydney and Nigel that the Mummy has an ancient virus that affected everyone and made them crazy - while she is apparently immune. Another survivor (Rollin) surfaces and tries to kill everyone else. He wants to sell the virus and use Eleanor as the potential antidote. After much running around on the base, Sydney and Nigel stop Rollin from taking the Mummy from the base. This episode is very, very slow moving. The story seems incredibly padded out. Characters run around in the dark and achieve very little. Quicker pacing would have made the story more exciting.moreless
