Event: QUAN SHU FORTRESS, MANCHURIA 1359 A.D.

Sydney and Nigel are hot on the trail of a Chinese "dragon's egg" concerning an early contact-explosive like nitroglycerine. Rival relic hunter Kane has the map, but has been captured by a local warlord, Shandar. The duo have to break Kane out, and then get the map from him and go for the egg. They manage to get hold of it, but Kane and Shandar pursue them, and Sydney uses the explosive to blow up their opponents. Meanwhile, Claudia is off on a "fashion emergency" and temp Karen Petrusky is forced to deal with a budget review of Sydney's Ancient Studies department.moreless

  • Sydney and Nigel try to locate an ancient Chinese 'dragon egg'.

    7.5
Sydney and Nigel rush off to China to find an ancient dragon egg. Back at the college, Claudia's replacement - Karen - has to struggle against a college administrator. In China, Sydney finally tracks down another relic hunter who stole the map they need to find the egg. After much conspiring, Sydney and Nigel take off with the map - with the local warlord and his gang behind them. They locate the egg in a cave and try to avoid the warlord on their way back. However, they are tracked down and Sydney uses some of the highly explosive elements of the egg to bring down a cliff - which kills the warlord and his group. In the meantime at the college, Karen turns up at an important administrators' meeting and proves Sydney's value to the board. In this story, the plot really centred on the action part of the show - as opposed to the relic finding - to the episode's detriment. On the other hand, Karen - played by Tanja Reichert - proves a good replacement for Claudia. She plays the character with a mixture of sex appeal and intelligence.moreless
