Reno 911! is a refreshing alternative to the formulaic, or simply humorless, programs that plague network television in 2008. Quick-moving scenes that keep the viewer entertained and laughing throughout lead to a superior program. From the opening skit you get a perfect idea of what the Reno characters are like. While Dangle, Garcia, Jones and the rest of the crew are absurd and clueless, it is still done in the realm of reality, something shows like The Office can't claim. One of the signature parts of Reno 911! are their failed operations. In this episode we watched the station trying to bust a "prostitution place" covered up by a Thai restaurant that turned out to simply be a Thai restaurant (except for the male that worked there).
Everything that Jim Dangle said in this episode was hilarious. The fact that he hasn't even been nominated for an Emmy yet shows how out of touch the Academy is with what true acting is and what people actually like. Still, there were some flaws in this episode. Being a Trudy-centric broadcast didn't help things as she isn't the funniest character in the bunch. There were also some scenes that simply weren't humorous. All that aside this was a strong broadcast from Reno 911! and it is great to have quality programming like this during the summer hours.moreless
