  • The season can't get any worse than the premier.

    5.0
I tried to introduce my friend to this series by having him watch this show and he wasn\'t impressed and I wasn\'t either. I loved the first two seasons but this seems to forget about what happened. It\'s only been three months since the end of the last season and the characters are acting like none of it happened. The brother/wife thing was predictable and the pacing was off. I was unimpressed with this episode.moreless
  • Tommy's struggling to cope with the loss of Connor, The crew around him are all dealing with changes in their lives, and oh yea, Johnny's nailing Tommy's wife.

    9.4
An overall great start to season three. I purposefully watch Rescue Me on DVD and this episode showed why. Great acting all around, nice story, some really funny conversations between tommy and damion, and a pretty sweet reveal about Johnny.

As someone who loves the show and has very few complaints thus far (and considering this is season three, that's impressive), it was nice to see Tommy seemingly getting his life a little bit back on track. He's still sober (we think), he is actually having a somewhat decent relationship with Shela (we hope), and he's still the firefighter everyone wants him to be.

Right now it's pretty good to be Tommy Gavin. Here's hoping it continues.moreless
  • Tommy's life is spiraling out of control following the death of his only son Connor and the end of his on and off again marriage to his estranged wife Janet. Rescue Me continues to push boundaries and shock, Season 3 is off to an amazing start.moreless

The season 3 premiere was amazing! Tommy's life is crashing down and he must deal with it. Tommy is hiding his grief about Connor until an emotional visit with Janet, which leads to a recovery after a fire. Probie is almost done being Probie. Lou is on the verge of a breakdown. Betrayal runs deep this episode, and if it's any indication, this season is going to be bigger and better than all the rest.

    AMAZING episode!moreless
  • This show has to win the Emmy! You just get so hooked!

It has been a long time since I have watched an Awesome Drama but yet at the same time makes me laugh and smile. I absolutely love watching this series. I think Dennis Leary is One Cool Cat!! And I hope to see much more in the future. The writers and actors get 2 BiG ThUmBs Up – You all rock!!
  • This episode was awesome, very funny and a perfect start to a new season.

    9.1
Despite getting off to a slow start with an obvious dream sequence this season premier was great. Uncle Teddy in prison was very funny, and it was great to see the crew again after 8 months, like they would quit smoking! Watching Tommy try to talk to Damien about sex was hilarious and Damien was really funny, he is exactly how I would envision Tommy when he was younger. Tommy lighting his cigarette, after saving that little girl\'s life, was easily one of my favorite scenes from this series; very cool! Finding out Johnny is the one banging Janet was not surprising considering how close they were last season, but the fact that Johnny would sink that low still pissed me off. Overall this was an excellent episode and it opened some good new plot lines for the new season.moreless

    • Tommy: Probie, do you know anything about this chick Garrity's been seeing?
Mike: No, he's been pretty tight-lipped about it. I know she's older, though.
      Franco: Yeah, how much older?
Mike: Like a lot older-she was watching Monday Night Football the night they announced John Lennon got shot.
Franco: Yeah, that was, like, 1980, right? She couldn't have been, like, five years old.
Mike: She had a bet on the game.

    • Janet (to Tommy): You know the only thing good outta this? Is that I don't have to watch Connor grow up and turn out exactly like you.

    • Maggie: So you quit smokin', huh?
      Sean: Yes.
Maggie: Good. 'Cause I'm gonna go out and have one. (Sean moves to get up) No. (Sean sits back down) Good boy.

    • (After Tommy talked to Mrs. Turbody and she gave him her number, and he comes back to the car and is trying to convince Damian to stop seeing her)
Tommy: Alright, here's the deal. You ever look behind your mom's TV set, where the home entertainment system is and all that stuff is. You ever look behind there?
      Damian: Uh, no.
Tommy: Well, if you did, you'd see a whole gaggle of wires back there with connections and stuff-- there's inputs and there's outputs, and-- and it's kinda like your interior pleasure center. Like, your brain is wired directly to your penis, okay? So, you have all these inputs and outputs and if you put the wrong input in the wrong output, next thing y'know your brain is sending the wrong signal to your dick and you can get completely screwed up, okay? So it's okay now when you're 18 years old and you're bangin' a hot 38 year old Mrs. Turbody-- but then you can turn into a 45 year old man-- my age, and then all of a sudden you wanna bang... 70 year old broads, okay? You want that, huh?
      Damian: No.
Tommy: You ever seen your grandmother naked?
      Damian: Hell no.
Tommy: Well, I'm talkin' about seein' her and wantin' to bang her. You want that?

    • Tommy (to Damian, about his science teacher): What the hell, no Mrs Turbody when I was in school, I had Sister Mary Shovel Face in school... you get Sharon Stone. Christ.

    • (Talking about Damian and his science teacher)
Tommy: This is some serious stuff. This-- this could scar you for life.
Damian: Yeah. I sure as hell hope so.
Tommy: No. Literally, I mean you could end up being my age and still have the mental images from this-- y'know, in the front of your brain.

    • Tommy: Let me get this straight--
Damian: I'm bangin' my science teacher.
Tommy: Mrs. Turbody, she's obviously married.
Damian: No, no actually she's widowed. That's kinda how we connected. You know, the grieving processes, the different stages, blah blah blah.
      Tommy: Blah blah blah.
Damian: Yeah, I got that from you.

    • (After Sheila found condoms in his room, she wants Tommy to talk to him about it)
Damian (to Tommy): What'd you think, I was sellin' 'em?

    • Tommy: What your godfather who loves you very much can't pick you up from school with out there being somethin' wrong? (Damian gives him a look) Somethin's wrong, get in. We gotta talk.

    • (Tommy wants Sheila to plan his father's 83rd birthday party)
Sheila: What's in this for me?
Tommy: You know what? In a normal family situation somebody askin' a sister-in-law to help out with the pateral grandfather would be considered, y'know, run-of-the-mill stuff.
Sheila: Yeah. Here's the thing. In a normal family, a chick who marries a cousin wouldn't be considered a sister-in-law. Number one. And when that cousin dies it doesn't signal opening banging season on said sister-in-law.

    • John Sr.: I dunno how to clean sheets. I'm a goddamn war hero, asshole.
Tommy: Oh, yeah? Well, get your fat goddamn war hero ass into the shower, right now.

    • Tommy: Oh, no, what'd you--- piss the bed again?
John Sr.: I knew I shouldn't have drunk those last five glasses of wine.
Tommy Goddamn. It's like having a goddamn baby around the house again.

    • Sheila: I need you to talk to Damian. I found a box of condoms in his room.
Tommy: Look, he's almost 18 years old. There's porn all over the internet, okay – hardcore, softcore, midgets blowing sheep. I think he's probably pretty up to date.

    • (About Damian)
Cousin Eddie: What the hell is he doing smoking?
      Tommy: It's my fault apparently.
Johnny: Yeah, what isn't these days.
      Tommy: Tell me about it.

    • Franco: Jesus, that was a bitch, huh?
Lou: I almost puked on the third floor.
Chief: That's that sausage and pepper sandwich coming back at ya.
Lou: No, it was that old broad I saved. She shit her pants on the way down.

    • Lou: Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone.
(Lou puts a twenty-dollar bill in the jar, and walks off)
Sean: Wow! I didn't know that he was a Pink Floyd fan.
Mike: It was Green Day, asshole!

    • Tommy: How ya doin'?
Uncle Teddy: I lost another five pounds, 83 total.
      Tommy: Wow.
Uncle Teddy: Yeah. This murder 1's the best goddamn diet I ever been on.
Tommy: Uh-huh. So, Eddie tells me you're takin' him up on the anti-depressant/food allergy/insanity defense.
      Uncle Teddy: Yeah.
Tommy: Uh-huh. And exactly what foods would you be allergic to?
Uncle Teddy: Every goddamn one of 'em. I see anything meat, doughnuts, raisins, I lose my mind. You know that.
Tommy: I didn't know about the raisins. Uh and the anti-depressant thing?
Uncle Teddy: Whiskey, Scotch, pot. Look, kid I'm just havin' a little fun at the expense of the system.

    • Teddy: Goddammit Jerry, where the hell are my handcuffs? Jesus, what are you, takin' a nap? I could'a killed another five people in here already! Come on, let's go.
