I assume he's avoiding coming to work because he broke up with Tommy's daughter when she turned out be...a particularly skilled girlfriend. Thank you Janet.

There was no real reason, like he never spelled it out. But it seems like it's the ghosts. He had stopped seeing them for awhile and then that french lady (can't remember her name) asked him about what he might do if he never saw them again plus she showed him a video of 9/11 featuring Jimmy and he seemed to start drinking right around there so take from that what you will.

Re: 30 days without drinking?? He was given his year chip so he hadn't had a drink for an entire year prior to the visit to the 9/11 site with Frenchie. And where did she go?? Assumingly back to her writing from whence she came.

    Hey there!

Have you noticed it, too? Since episode one most of the time it doesn't seem to happen much in each episode. For example, the last one "Zippo" . Sheila is crazy as always, the guys go shopping, Tommy and Janet dining and/or fighting and/or demolishing their surrounding. That's all.

But still the show is great and pretty appealing. However, the dialogues always get me.

    Anyway. Just thinking.

The episode "Blackout" was one of the most amazing episodes I have seen of this show. Structure and storytelling were brilliant. Really excellent writing and presentation by everyone. It was the "Lost Highway" episode of "Rescue Me."

Nothing is really happening in this show, just more of the same. This was a hell of a show, before, now it is well past its prime.

This season has been grim, really grim. I know the show wants to go out in 2011 but I hope they aren't going to just tread water until then. I hate to say it, but when Lou "died", while sad, I was hoping he would stay dead because of the dramatic impact it would have for the other characters. In fact. I've been hoping they'd start killing off more characters for the same reason.

If not, that was pretty good impersonation. I was disappointed how the final season was developing, it was more of the same, nothing new brought to the table. Now this last episode, Head, was something else. A great one, the best one so far.

Completely agree, I feel it was the best so far of this season.

Ok, I haven't read any of the forum and I just saw the first season so if my comment seems strange, just remember my caveat.

Anyone else think this show was pretty much exactly like The Shield except it was in a firehouse? I
