  • A downgrade from the pilot, and if you've seen the pilot, you know that it means this was bad... real bad.

I want to love this show, I thought I was going to. I remember watching the previews during Hot In Cleveland, I mean, George Segal is awesome. This show is not, and I don't blame him at all. The lead is horrible, he was even less funny in this one. He isn't actually the only problem I have though, his friend Brandon isn't doing anything for me either. He was really annoying in the pilot, but that didn't come across here. Jessica, or Ryan Michelle Bathe (who played Lily's friend on HIMYM in season 3, the re-vertigo episode [Sandcastles in the Sand]) was absent the majority of the episode, appearing for maybe a minute. She hasn't proved to be funny yet either (in this show), so no loss, I suppose.

Two things worked, I guess. I enjoyed how they discovered David's mom was back, and I enjoyed Alan kissing Elaine's picture, and trying to cover up by doing the same to the plant next to it. Nothing else in this episode really worked for me. It felt more awkward, and besides the latter moment, I was bored throughout. If this show doesn't pick things up soon, then I'm only watching Hot In Cleveland on TVLand.moreless
