EDIT
Hour One
AIRED:
From executive producer Gavin Polone ("Panic Room") and writer/creator David Seltzer ("The Omen") comes "Revelations," a six-hour event series starring Bill Pullman ("Independence Day") as Harvard professor Dr. Richard Massey, an astrophysicist who is certain that all worldly events can be explained by Science. In the series premiere, Dr. Massey is dealing with the tragic murder of his 12-year-old daughter by a maniacal murderer, Isaiah Haden (Michael Massee, "24"), who was captured and imprisoned. After a strange course of events, Massey is challenged by a nun, Sister Josepha Montafiore (Natascha McElhone, "Solaris"), who leads him on a journey through the unfamiliar world of faith. Drawn together by personal tragedy, these unlikely partners -- one who worships God and one who worships Science -- are propelled into a deepening mystery, finding evidence that the world, as predicted by The Book of Revelation, has reached The End of Days.moreless

  • Great episode.

Too bad this show only goes for 6 episodes, they can surely go for 22 episodes. But they decided to do it that way, it's a very nice show about the End of the World. It's a familiar theme used in countless horror movies, most of them, if not all of them are horrible. Revelations surely hits the mark. They got it right on the money. It's a very exciting plot. Bill Pullman might be able to save the world, but it's the anticipation that makes this show really exciting. This episode introduces us to what's happening in the world of Revelations, I'm surely going to see this until it ends in episode 6.moreless
  • The start of a very cool show.

    9.5
"Revelations" is like a spiritual version of Indiana Jones...it explores religious phenomena and deals with the end of the world, and blends that with science, action, and adventure for a unique show that should have went on longer.

The first hour of "Revelations" is very much like a movie. Very good production values, a great and capable cast, and skillful writing. The two main characters don't even meet until halfway through the episode and by the end are not even a team yet. A lot of people have faulted the show for this, but it actually makes the pacing much more realistic.

To sum up the events of the first hour, scientist Richard Massey returns home after convicting a charismatic Satanist, who used his daughter in a ritual sacrifice. He soon meets a nun by the name of Sister Josepha Montafiore, who was led to him by a map, drawn by a comatose girl who was struck twice by lightning. Sister Josepha believes that the end of the world is near, and thinks that Dr. Massey is meant to help her.

The show is very entertaining and I think even non-Christians could enjoy it. It's at least worth a try.moreless
