jimmy jacobs is out for a while with a torn ACL.

Jimmy Rave Out for 8-12 Weeks

    :
Rave undergoes emergency surgery on his jaw   Jimmy Rave found out last Monday that he suffered a broken mandible on the lower right side of his jaw in the Fight Without Honor against Nigel McGuinness on March 4th. Incredibly, Rave still wrestled in FIP last Saturday with the broken jaw.   Rave has been experiencing sharp pain in his jaw since the war against McGuinness in Liverpool. The brutal match saw Rave get hit with a Tower Of London from the ring on a steel guardrail that was draped from the ring to the other guardrails as well as a backdrop on a guardrail and several vicious strikes and lariats from McGuinness. It is unknown at what point in the match Rave suffered the injury.   Rave competed on a FIP event last weekend with the broken jaw. The pain became overwhelming and Rave went to doctors on Monday, who discovered the broken jaw and demanded that Rave go into immediate surgery. Rave now has his jaw wired shut and will be out 8-12 weeks.   Rave has assured us that he will use this time to train and will only comeback meaner, angrier and hungrier. Rave says ROH better be ready for him upon his return.

    :
April 27th: Jimmy Jacobs will be in both St. Paul and Chicago this weekend. Jacobs will not be able to wrestle for 6-9 months. Last week saw Jacobs undergo successful surgery on his knee. His torn ACL was replaced with a tendon from his hamstring. It was also found that Jacobs had a partially torn meniscus, which was also repaired.

Just got word that Mike Quackenbush will have to miss this weekend due to injuries suffered last weekend. It is a shame because it was supposed to be him vs. Bryan Danielson on the PPV that will be taped Saturday in Edison. We will make sure you see great matches in both Boston and Edison. With this injury and Mark Briscoe being out there will be some re-booking. We will have a newswire later tonight, perhaps in the AM, with the changes for both Boston and Edison. Thank you for your patience and we apologize for the lineup changes. I assure you that we will have kickass events in both Boston and Edison. These are both important shows as the Boston DVD will be out for Christmas season and Edison is a PPV taping so we will pull out all the stops at both cards. Thank you, Gabe

-Ring of Honor champion Nigel McGuinness is suffering from a biceps injury that will be examined and diagnosed this week. Right now, the hope is that the injury won't turn out to be serious but the worst case scenario seems to be McGuinness missing a few months following surgery. Right now, the belief is the injury isn't serious and that he'll be OK with rest and some physical therapy. The company is going to be careful and if they need to pull him from working Glory by Honor weekend in Philadelphia and New York City, they will as they'd rather he miss one set of shows and rehab, then come back focused and 100%. Once the promotion gets a better idea on McGuinness' status, they may need to shuffle the deck and change some scheduled lineups. I am under the impression that unless he'll be out of the ring for an extended period, Nigel's ROH title reign is safe.

-Mark Briscoe's dislocated foot is still healing and the promotion decided to just have him work ringside in California after he returned to the ring in Las Vegas as a precautionary measure. He's expected to work Glory by Honor weekend.

-October 29th: We have good and bad news on the injury front for this weekend. Mike Quackenbush has pulled himself off the 11/2 event due to a head injury. We wish him a speedy recovery. ROH World Tag Team Champion Mark Briscoe has been in physical therapy for over a week and says his foot feels good. He will be in action this weekend in Philly and Manhattan. We will have news of The Briscoes' matches including a ROH World Tag Team Title defense (or two)once the cards are set when we have news on Nigel McGuinness' injury.

-October 29th: There is nothing new to report on ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness' condition. He is still scheduled for an MRI on Tuesday and we will know where things stand then. Look for more matches to be announced for both "Glory By Honor VI" events on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning once we know Nigel's status. Once we are able to determine the final "Glory By Honor VI" cards we will be able to sign matches for 11/30 in Dayton and 12/1 in Chicago, too.

I just got off the phone with Nigel McGuinness and there is good and bad news. The bad news is that Nigel has a torn left bicep. The good news is the doctors think with some rest that he will not need surgery and that it will heal by "Final Battle" weekend at the end of December. Since Nigel has already made his first defense we will keep the belt on Nigel until "Final Battle" weekend. If Nigel is unable to compete by the end of Decemember then we might have to make a move with the belt.

Nigel wants to send his apologies for not being able to compete this weekend. I have to admit that it was a hard conversation with him. Let me assure you that there is nothing in the world that Nigel wants more than to be able to give you great World Title matches this weekend. He has worked his entire life to get to this spot and this is just terrible luck. However, it is for the best that Nigel uses this time to heal so he can be 100% when his World Title reign resumes. Nigel will be available for autographs before both the Philly and NYC events this weekend.

We apologize for the lineup change. We will have something posted soon with revised lineups for this weekend and huge news about "Final Battle" weekend. Thank you for your understanding during these difficult circumstances. We assure you that we will deliver two epic events this weekend. Thank you.

ROH World Champion Nigel McGuiness's rehab on his torn biceps is said to be coming along very well. He's said to not be in any major pain and remaind on track for a December return. He'll be appearing at the Dayton and Chicago shows for autographs and pictures. ROH is playing up the injury in their storylines saying he has a target on his back with Morishima, Aries, Strong, Hero, and Danielson gunning for a title shot.

Chris Hero injured his knee at a PWG show this past Sunday in Van Nuys. Still no word on the severity of the injury or if he will be able to work the Ring of Honor shows this weekend. As of the time of this writing he is scheduled to face Bryan Danielson at the ROH show on Friday in Boston

I can't find an official report right now, but I know for a fact that Ruckus has been sidelined with pneumonia. I think it's obvious that he got this sick from smoking.

    Mark Briscoe Injured

Half of the ROH World Tag Team Champions Mark Briscoe was seriously injured last Saturday night in Chicago by The Age Of The Fall. Briscoe will need surgery and is expected to miss a significant amount of time. The status of the ROH World Tag Team Titles is currently being determined by ROH officials.

Jimmy Jacobs stabbed Mark in the wrist at the Chicago event, resulting in a deep laceration. We will have an update early this week in the ROHwrestling.com Newswire on Mark's condition and the status of the ROH World Tag Team Titles.

    Here's an update:

    ROH LJ Community wrote:
At last night's show in Chicago ROH ran an angle where Mark Briscoe was attacked by Jimmy Jacobs with a spike targeting his arm following The Briscoes loss to Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin.

As it turns out Briscoe is out for an indefinite amount of time due to a wrist injury that will require surgery. He initially suffered it during the Dover shows in March but since the original diagnosis was that it wasn't that bad he kept working.

There's no word yet what will be done with the Tag Team Titles nor is there an estimated time frame for Mark's return just yet.

    Wrestlezone.com:

Current PWG World Heavyweight Champion the Human Tornado might be out of wrestling for some time suffering both an ACL and dislocated kneecap injury. The injury took place on Friday April 25, 2008 at a JCW show in Springfield IL. Tornado was supposed to face Billy Morgan, but as Tornado hopped the top rope, he landed wrong, blowing out his knee on landing. They did a quick 25-second match where Tornado, even while injured managed to hit a flip side suplex and pinned him. The status of the PWG championship (which Tornado won in a one night tournament after champion Low Ki suffered a knee injury in Japan) is not known at this time.

Mark Briscoe has re-injured his knee to the point where he will require surgery to repair it. We received word from Ring Of Honor's show in New York City on Saturday that Briscoe appeared to be injured and are now able to confirm that he was not selling.

It is unknown at this point how long Briscoe will be out of action, but the official ROH website has confirmed what sources have told us.

It is being reported on various sites that McGuiness suffered an arm injury Friday night that will require surgery and will keep him home for several months. He is working through the injury at this time. I understand the injury is a bicep tear. -wrestlezone

Ring of Honor announced Tyler Black will miss this weekend's events due to his neck injury. Chris Hero will replace him in challenging Jerry Lynn for the ROH title in Boston. ROH hopes Black will return in time for their HD Net TV tapings at the end of the month.

Jon Davis of the Dark City Fight Club will undergo surgery shortly to repair torn ligaments in the wrist he dislocated last week as well.

In an update from the ROH News posted earlier this afternoon, Bryan Danielson's injury is actually a staph infection.

PWInsider.com has confirmed Danielson has been pulled from tonight's TV taping as well as next week's ROH events.

Brent Albright (aka Gunner Scott during his WWE run) will be undergoing surgery on his leg to remove a blood clot suffered in a bout last week in Toronto. Albright suffered a contusion on his leg which eventually swelled up to the what ROH has described as "the size of a softball." Albright is going under the knife to remove the clot in order to prevent additional medical issues should the clot eventually break off and become lodged elsewhere. ROH is teasing he will still work the 8/14 and 8/15 ROH on HD Net tapings in Philadelphia, so we'll see.
