In the firefight on the island, the Riptide guys are carrying what look like S&W M76 submachine guns. This may be the only time they are seen producing actual fully-automatic weapons (as opposed to semi-automatic lookalikes). A fairly rare weapon, it is quite coincidental that the "bad guys" are carrying exactly the same weapon. Given the expense of legally possessing a machine gun, either we are to believe that they somehow somewhere acquired them from the bad guys, or the props director got lazy. In any case, the Riptide guys were never seen carrying them again.

Three-or-so years later, as a result of a writers strike, this episode was adapted into almost a carbon-copy for an episode of the short-lived Mario Van Peebles series 'Sonny Spoon', titled 'Never Attend Your Old High School Reunion'. Apparently, even the same stock footage of American Football (as Nick thinks back to his glory days at high-school) was used.
