  • A good conflict between the leads adds to the fun of the show.

As we get more into the series, it's a good idea to introduce a bit of tension between the two main characters. We've seen the class difference between Rizzoli & Isles before but this really brought it in how different they are. Isles' wanting to show the rich aren't that bad was fun as she honestly doesn't get how vastly different that life is from Rizzoli's harder upbringing. I enjoyed the lawyer saying he grew up poor himself and owes the family, gave his character more dimension and the arguements between the leads were well done (although the "tell her I said..." bit was too childish for two supposed professionals). I also liked Isles link to that former flame although we all knew it wouldn't end well. But glad that, despite her worries, Isles was still able to face the truth as that's what matters to her. The killer was sort of obvious but liked the comedown for him being told point blank how he disgraced the family with his act. As usual, the chemistry between Harmon and Alexander is what makes the series work as the dinner scene was funny with Rizzoli downing champagne and liked the end of Isles trying out beer. This show is improving and introducing a bit of tension between the leads only helps.moreless

After a good pilot, Rizzoli and Isles has another disappointing episode. Outside of the scene with Maura trying to teach Jane how to properly eat the dish, I do not think there was anything even resembling a good scene in this episode. You had a senseless subliminal guest spot with Mark Paul Gosselar, who will star in yet another lawyer show for TNT, and you had a very boring case of the week to go along with it.

Is it just me or does Angie Harmon always look like she is in pain on this show? Are they showing her episodes of Rizzoli and Isles while she is filming it? That's the only rational explanation for the wry grimace that plagues her face for 42 minutes.

It is a shame that this show is now more watched than Burn Notice.moreless

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • In the scene where Angela is selling bottles of fruit juice she gives two bottles to Frankie Jr. The first bottle she gives contains red juice while the bottle on the table closest to her contains blue liquid. When she gives him the second bottle, she picks up the bottle closest to her which now contains red juice, while the colour of the liquid in first bottle already in Frankie's hand suddenly has changed to blue.

  • QUOTES (7)

    • Jane Rizzoli: Will you run some tests on this please? (handing Maura a bottle of Angela's red fruit juice)
      Maura Isles: What case?
Jane Rizzoli: "Is Jane's mother poisoning the neighborhood?"
      Maura Isles: Oh, sure.

    • Jane Rizzoli: The guy made his money the same way so many other families did at the time, shipping.
Barry Frost: Yeah, rum, wine, slaves. (Jane smacks him in the chest)

    • Jane Rizzoli: You're scrambling to finish out the autopsy.
Maura Isles: The governor called. He would like the reports right away.
Jane Rizzoli: Of course he did. Did you have a nice chat? Maybe tonight you could attend the opera with some senators, and then afterwards go out on the veranda and smoke big rolled-up wads of $100.
Maura Isles: These people are not the enemy.
Jane Rizzoli: Yeah, neither was Columbus. Tell that to the native Americans he killed with smallpox.
Maura Isles: The Fairfields helped build this city.
Jane Rizzoli: My grandfather was an ironworker. He helped build this city.

    • Jane Rizzoli: Why are you doing the autopsy on a Sunday? Did they cancel all the kundalini-pulao-riku yoga classes?
Maura Isles: Kundalini is sacred energy work, pulao is a savory rice dish, and I'm pretty sure that you made up that last word.

    • (on the phone)
      Maura Isles: Jane.
      Jane Rizzoli: Maura, I'm sorry.
Maura Isles: It's okay. Listen, I don't have a lot of time. Adam had a mistress. Vanessa Dewald.
Jane Rizzoli: Why... why are you doing this?
Maura Isles: Because I have your back. I gotta go.

    • Jane Rizzoli: You looked really at home in that world.
Maura Isles: It's where I'm from. It's not where I chose to stay.
Jane Rizzoli: Well, what are you doing down here slumming with us?
Maura Isles: The same as you! I'm catching bad guys.
Jane Rizzoli: I need the job. You don't.
Maura Isles: Look, I want my life to have meaning and purpose, the same as you.
Jane Rizzoli: Sounds good, Maura. I-I don't know what to believe anymore. I'm not even sure whose side you're on.

    • Vince Korsak: When you grew up like Jane, you're gonna have an attitude about people who, uh, who are entitled.
Maura Isles: That's a form of prejudice.
Vince Korsak: Where people like me and Jane come from, we didn't have a lot. But we had each other's backs. Sounds to me like all Jane wants to know is, do you have hers or not?
