Rizzoli and Isles was the breakout hit of last summer and I am glad that the show is back. This episode did not really show us what it is capable of. They had the season premiere of The Closer's last year as a lead-in, but they squandered all of that momentum by not having the explosion until 12 minutes in. Season premieres these days need fireworks, and they did have a lot of explosions in the episode, but you can't drag things out or people will lose interest.

They did really show what is special about the relationship between Rizzoli and Isles, a main part of what makes this show great. That they did well in the season premiere, but the whole storyline was a little unnoteworthy if you ask me.moreless

    • Maura Isles: (about Jane's pain) You know, I was pretty sure that it was psychosomatic.
Jane Rizzoli: It was so not psychosomatic.
Maura Isles: No, I think it was.
Jane Rizzoli: You think? So, you were guessing?
Maura Isles: No, no, I can think. I can consider, I can conclude.
Jane Rizzoli: Yeah, no, that's guessing. You guessed.
Maura Isles: No, I did not.
Jane Rizzoli: (singing) Dr. Isles guessed, Dr. Isles guessed.
Maura Isles: I did not. I did not.
      Jane Rizzoli: Did too.

    • Maura Isles: Quite simply, keeping your brain busy aids recovery. Mind, body...
      Jane Rizzoli: Mind business.
      Maura Isles
      : You are my business.

    • Maura Isles: You look terrible.

      Jane Rizzoli: Thank you.

Maura Isles: You're making everyone late.

Jane Rizzoli: Even you would look bad if a bullet had gone through you.

    • Special billing was given to Bruce McGill (with) and Lorraine Bracco (and) for this episode.

    • Goof: The soldier's uniform name tag should be attached on the right front side of the uniform and the U.S. Army patch should be attached on the left front side of the uniform. During the first interviews after the car explosions, Pvt. Lawrence's name tag and U.S. Army tags are reversed. The rest of the soldiers in his unit being interviewed have their tags attached correctly.
