  • Romona is dropped into the early 20th century and Aunt Hetty forgets about the King hospitality when it comes to Nanny Lousia!

I must admit that I'm a fairly new fan of Road to Avonlea. Just finished most of the season a day ago. Well, most of it. It was kind of sporadic there at the end. I do remember seeing an episode back in the day that featured Robby Benson but that's really the only episode I can remember.

Anyway, we meet Sara Stanley, the wealthy daughter of Blair Stanley. Sara Stanley is played by Sara Polley who I just adored as little Romona from the PBS series Romona. She and her Nanny Lousia is sent to live with her deceased mother's sister Henrietta King (Aunt Hetty) because her father is caught up with some shady buisness people or something. This series starts off fairly well and for most of the series here after we are focused on Sara and her interactions with her King relatives until Sara Polley leaves the show. Aunt Hetty is a strict, by the book sort of woman in the beginning. Her character goes through some dicey, diverging moments but in the beginning she mostly stays that way. Funny how Nanny Louisa is treated at Rose Cottage when later on Hetty goes on and on about "the King hospitality." Where was that with Lousia, Hetty? :)moreless
  • Sarah comes to live in Avonlea and her new cousins are annoyed by her rich father and clothes from Paris. Aunt Hetty argues over the future of Sarah with her Nanny.moreless

After watching later seasons and then coming back to the pilot episode, I now like the pilot better. It is fun to see Sarah fighting with Felicity and Felix, as well as Felicity and Felix teaming up with one another. It is also nice to see how developed and how much better the later episodes are especially seasons five and six. I like the cast of characters better in the later seasons, but it is nice to see the original.moreless
