Recurring guest star Todd A. Rheingold is a SWAT team negotiator in real life (for the LAPD, of course).
Creator Barry Schindel left the series after this was shot. His reason given for departing was to focus on Law & Order. Just a few days after it was first broadcast, Frank Spotnitz announced he would follow Schindel's lead, reportedly because he was dissatisfied with the show. Maybe there weren't enough aliens and conspiracy theories for him...
Tom Sizemore previously worked for Michael Mann in 1995's Heat. Michael Paul Chan did likewise in 1999's The Insider. And Barry Shabaka Henley and Mario Van Peebles did likewise in 2001's Ali.
The series was originally titled Metro and then RHD/LA, the former of which was the division where the show was originally going to be set, and the latter of which was used for the fall schedule announcement. CBS ordered the second title change over the summer, believing that people wouldn't know what the letters stood for.
Jennifer L. Yen is credited as Jennifer Yen, and Manuel Urrego is credited as Manuel E. Urrego. Chic Daniel (who is also retired LAPD, as well as the series' associate producer) is miscredited as Chic Daniels under his guest star credit.
Music: "Deltron 3030" by Deltron 3030 (the instrumental version of which is the main title theme); "Everyday" by Delinquent Habits
Guest star Robert Deamer, an LAPD detective, doubles as a technical advisor for the series.
