The title of this episode is a reference to the song "Man on the Run" by One 2 Many.
The Laff-A-Lympics is a parody of the 2005 Spielberg film Munich. The movie itself portrays the events of a Palestinian militant group attacking one of Israel's Olympic teams at the 1972 Olympics in Munich, Germany.
The Maytag Repairman is the spokesman for the Maytag company. The commercial usually involves him doing nothing because Maytag hardware is so reliable.
The Regrets sketch is based on the ending of Thelma and Louise and what could've possibly happened immediately afterward. Although in the first draft of the movie, it had Thelma and Louise manage to ride in the car all the way down to the bottom of the canyon and just drive away to safety. It was nixed as being too unbelieveable.
One of the sketches featuring a spartan from 300, sees him refering to the the television sitcom series Two and a Half Men staring Charlie Sheen.
In the sketch with the two guys fighting the guy with the one eye is Rocky from the Rocky series of films.
The name "Laff-A-Lympics" comes from Hanna-Barbara's 1970's cartoon series Scooby-Doo's Laff-a Lympic's which starred the talking dog Scooby Doo.
