Robotech: New Generation is an animated science fiction TV series developed by Harmony Gold USA and Tatsunoko Production Co., Ltd. based on three distinct Japanese TV series that centers on humankind's war against powerful alien invaders, all of whom are seeking the Protoculture, an extremely powerful energy and life source. Thanks to all of the advanced technology and science spawned from a crashed alien starship, Earth was able to create giant mechas, or fighting machines, in order to take on their very unwelcome visitors. Robotech: New Generation focuses on the Third Robotech War in which the Invid, crab-like creatures sent to find the Protoculture, has occupied Earth. It is up to the Robotech Expeditionary Force with the leadership of Admiral Rick Hunter and resistance cells led by Lieutenant Commander Scott Bernard and Lieutenant Lancer Belmont.
