    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (2)

      • Bobbi: I told him.
        Yuri: Told who, what?
        Bobbi: Bobby, about us.
Yuri: Us? What us? We slept together once, months ago.

This occured in The Tell-Tale Latex, when after doubting Bobby's faithfulness, Bobbi sleeps with Yuri after a night of drinking.

      • When Bobby is chasing Yuri around the apartment building, Yuri tries to escape by going into the Dubois sisters' apartment; he is on the second floor when he does this. In the previous episode, The Misses Dubois Turn Out The Lights, their apartment door showed #223; however, they appeared to live on the first floor from the exterior shots shown in the episode.

    • QUOTES (11)

      • (leaving the Dubois sisters' funeral)
Toni: What did you hear? Was it an accident?
        Nick: I heard suicide.
Toni: Poor things. The whole building could have gone up.

      • Bobby (to Yuri): I was thinking... if you'd like to have dinner with us...
Bobbi: I'm sure Yuri has other plans.
        Yuri: No. Not really.
Bobbi: Well, I'm sure he'd rather be alone.
        Bobby: But he shouldn't.
Bobbi: He's not coming to dinner!

      • Yuri: You got a wife and kids?
        New Owner: Yeah, why?
Yuri: Well, you know, the Dubois apartment, it's pretty cramped for a family. So, I figure, you give me a month, I tear down a wall, I relocate a tenant...
New Owner: Do I look like a masochist? No, no, no... a couple of touch-ups here and there; I'm going to put this palace up for sale.

      • Toni: New owner, jacked up rents; we could all be squeezed out.
Yuri: They still need a Super, right?
Toni: And you think the new owner will keep you on?
Yuri: Well, why mess with success?
Toni: Oh, yeah, sure, right... I mean, what with your hard work, your dedication, your way (she begins to laugh) ...with people. Your way with people... (laughing uncontrollably)
Grandma Tan (in Cantonese): Poor deluded bastard.

      • Yuri: Hey, listen, if the building is sold, can I count on you for a reference?
Carlisle: Actually, I've been thinking about you. (he goes into his apartment)
        Yuri: Yeah?
Carlisle: Here (hands Yuri a book), it's one of my earlier works, some of it's a bit out-dated, but the gist remains the same.
(Yuri reads the book title: Jobless, Yes; Hopeless, No)

      • Bobby: My marriage... is over.
Yuri: Kid, if your wife jumped me as fast as she did, your marriage was already over.

      • Bobby: You have no time for love because you're unloveable. You're incapable of any human emotion.
        Yuri: Because I'm a man!
        Bobby: Because you're an asshole!

      • Bobby: Okay, I'll call for help after I get an apology.
Yuri: Okay. Look, I am very sorry for schtupping your wife. Now, please dial 9-1-1.
Bobby: That (thows a chunk of plaster on top of Yuri) was not (throws another chunk) sincere! (throws a final chunk)

      • Bobbi: I don't even know why I'm worried about [Bobby]; he never worries about me.
Grandma Tan (in Cantonese): I'm going to miss my favourite TV show.
        Bobbi: Exactly. Men are idiots.

      • (Bobby is talking about how he first met Bobbi)
Yuri: Can you please do me a favour? Can you take that stick of yours and bash my brains in so I don't have to listen to this shit any more?

      • Yuri (to Bobby): I'm six, well, my dad, he takes me to the park and I climb on top of one of those things, you know, those climbing things. But I'm too scared to come back down, so my dad, he says, 'Jump. I'll catch you.' So, I jump, and, well, my dad, he drops his arms and he steps aside, and SLAM! I hit the earth. So, I'm, you know, spitting out dirt and bawling my eyes out, and my dad, he comes up to me and he says, 'Life lesson #1, Son: don't expect no one to catch you when you fall.' He was a great man, my dad. That's love... someone who's willing to tell you the truth, even though it might hurt.

    • NOTES (2)

    • ALLUSIONS (1)

      • Yuri (to Bobby): Pay attention, okay, Mr. Pollyanna?

Pollyanna is a 1913 novel, written by Eleanor H. Porter; the main character in the book is Pollyanna who is always cheerful and optimistic, and brings happiness to the lives of everyone around her. The term 'Pollyanna' was originally applied to people who fit that mould, but has more recently been used to mean someone who is naively optimistic, and expects people to act in a moral fashion, despite all evidence to the contrary.
