Rocket Man

Show Summary

This drama is about the life and tribulations of George Stevenson, a recent widower with two children. He lives in Wales, works in a chocolate factory and has an ambition to launch a rocket into space to carry his wife's ashes to the stars. His best friend Barney and his son Tom (aged 8) are his enthusiastic helpers, but his daughter Angela feels less than happy about the entire plan.

  • A feel good show for all...

From my first viewing of this show I knew this was something good, it felt good and with Robson Green acting amongst others the cast was great. I love short series which leave you with a happy glow. Through his various trials and tribulations George is always his eccentric self whilst dealing with his grief, add his two children, impotent friend Barney with wife, and various other acquaintances and friends who make his dreams come true. There is always something happening – the rocket has been confiscated, Angela (the daughter) has got a boyfriend and joined a band, both George and son Tom have trouble with reading, Barney wants George to become a sperm doner. Not only is there that but there is humour every step of the way in many subtle and non-subtle ways. I just love the formation of WASA (the Welsh version of NASA). :)

There are no endings of the world or massive events but it doesn’t need it. You feel connected to each character and their problems, and you want them to succeed.moreless
