  • Perfect

Power Trip- Rocko's boss, Mr. Smitty goes on a business trip and leaves Rocko temporarily in charge of the Comic Book store. At first, he's fair but he soon lets power get to his head, and begins assulting Filburt, hist only empolyee. Very good episode, I like how Rocko stands up for Filburt at the end of the episode. 10/10 A+

To Heck and Back- While eating at the Chokey Chicken, Heffer chokes on a chicken bone, and is sent to Heck for being a Glutton. This episode is one of the funniest of the series, I love how Satan is "Peaches" and I also like how the end of the episode basiclly replays everything at the beginning of the ep. 10/10 A+

Overall, 2 perfect episodes, well worth checking out. 10/10 A+moreless
  • Not the way I remember it.

I would mainly like to talk about Power Trip. First of all, if I do remember myself, I thought that this episode was the second segment, not the first. Secondly, I thought that Heffer was going to appear in this episode and not just Filburt. Next, I don't remember Rocko being asked to hire an assistant but instead, already have Filburt with him. And I really don't recall Rocko being the boss and Filburt being the employee. The way I remember this episode was that Heffer would be in the episode and him, Filburt and Rocko would all be working together. Another thought was that before I saw this episode again was that they would all be working in a bigger place. And sure, Rocko would be in charge, but him being the employer; to me, that changes everything. But I guess one thing that I should have been prepared for would be Really Really Big Man dropping by on the scene. However, I didn't think it would be Big Man and I also didn't think that the scenario would happen with Filburt being out on the street and calling for him. I do remember someone dropping by and teaching Rocko a valuable lesson about teamwork and to apologize to Filburt for the way he was acting, but I didn't think that it would be Really Really Big Man. The beginning also surprised me, but I'm not going to go into too much detail there. This is not a bad review; however I was surprised by the outcome when I saw this episode again. It is still on my list as one of my favorites, but I still thought that this episode could be a little bit better.moreless
  • Rocko hires Filburt / Heffer goes to heck

    Power Trip

Finally, a Filburt episode! In early episodes (production-wise) he just had bit parts such as a comic book nerd, a cashier and a DMV worker. Mr. Smitty and Really Really Big Man's first appearances. RRBM was freaky with his magic chesthair and nipples.

    To Heck and Back

Heffer chokes on some chicken ribs (is that why they call it Chokey Chicken?) and ends up in heck.

    "Isn't it called --"

But they managed to get away with hell in Carnival Knowledge. One of the worst things about heck is there's no remote. And the ending was funny. Peaches (the devil) plays paddleball and stuffs up on 665.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • In To Heck and Back, Heffer says "dead." This was obviously predating Nickelodeon's infamous "Don't say dead" rule of the late 1990s.

    • Power Trip: When Rocko presses the green button, the chair is black. But in a few other shots, the chair is green.

    • During the crowd-buying-the-comics sequence, the cash register blows up. But later, the cash register is completely intact as if nothing happened to it! Shouldn't it be completely destroyed and in pieces?

  • QUOTES (11)

    • Rocko: (hidden from view, speaking calmly) Supply and demand, Filburt. Supply and demand. People demand Big Man comics, and we supply them. If YOU, Filburt, can't supply Big Man, the system breaks down, Do you follow me, Filburt?
      Filburt: Yes, sir.
Rocko: (getting angrier) If the system breaks down, I don't make a profit! DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS?!?
Filburt: No... (Rocko reveals himself. He looks like Mr. Smitty!) NOOOOOOOOO!!!
      Rocko: YOU'RE FIRED!

    • Peaches: (dark voice) You are guilty of one of the Seven Deadly Sins: GLUTTONY! ("normal" voice) Are you still with me?
Heffer: Hey, Peaches, you got anything to eat around here?
Peaches: ("normal" voice) You don't get it, do you?

    • Mr. Smitty: Don't... touch... the... green... button...

    • Robed Figure: I am the dark underlord, the prince of doom, the king of eternal torment! I am fear! I am evil! They call me...Peaches!

    • Peaches: (playing paddle ball) ...661... 662... 663...664... 665... (he finally messes up in paddle ball) ... ... ... 1... 2... 3... 4...

    • Peaches: And there's the lamp from Heck and here's the pineapple from Heck and...
Heffer: (laughing) I love it when people say that!

    • Rocko: I see it, Heff, I see it! You got a chicken bone caught in your throat! Oh, no, Heff, you have X's for eyes. What in the blazes does that mean?

    • Peaches: Prepare yourself for your ETERNAL PUNISHMENT! You will watch your friend slowly waste away. And when it is over, you will watch it IN RERUNS AGAIN AND AGAIN! FOR! ALL! ETERNITY!!

    • Heffer: Hey! Wait a minute...heck? Isn't it suppose to be...
      (Peaches coveres Heffer's mouth)
      Peaches: Censors.

    • Peaches: Now turn to channel three.
      Heffer: Sure...where's the remote?
Peaches: (laughs) You poor fool. Still don't know where you are, do you?! THERE IS NO REMOTE!
      (Heffer screams in terror)

    • Mr. Smitty: Well then, if you're such a good team, I guess you should just stick together then, huh? YOU'RE BOTH FIRED!!

  • NOTES (7)

    • Rocko: I'll change, Really Really Big Man! I'll change!

When Rocko pleads to Big Man that he will change his ways after seeing how badly he had been acting as the temporary boss of the comic shop, this is similar to Ebeneezer Scrooge in Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol pleading to the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come that he will change after seeing how greedy and heartless he had been.

    • Heffer: Rocko, I'm not dead yet! I'm not dead yet!

This is yet another Monty Python reference found in Rocko's Modern Life, this time to Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1974).

    • Sign: Chokey Chicken
This is a play on the sex term "Choking the Chicken." It can also be a parody of the world-famous KFC franchise.
