In this introduction to season 9, Lecy Goranson is not shown, nor is she credited. As you will see in the next episode, Sarah Chalke comes back to play the role of Becky this season. Lecy Goranson had originally left the show at the beginning of the 5th season to attend college. Sarah Chalke took over the role of Becky at a point in the 6th season. Lecy Goranson returned to take back over the role of Becky in the 8th season premiere under the impression that that was going to be the last season (as it originally was),intending to work around her school schedule. When conflicts arose with her school schedule, Sarah Chalke played the role of Becky in only those episodes where it was episode for the character to appear that season. Roseanne pitched this 9th season which was accepted. Lecy Goranson did not sign on for the 9th season. Sarah Chalke plays the role of Becky for the 9th season and duration of the show. In the introduction used for season 8, the character of Becky jokingly morphed from a picture of Lecy Goranson to a picture of Sarah Chalke back to a newer picture of Lecy Goranson. This final season, Lecy Goranson does not appear in the introduction. The character of Becky morphs through 3 pictures of Sarah Chalke.
This 9th season, as it's the last season of Roseanne, the introduction to the show is accompanied by musical lyrics, the only season and introduction where this occurs. John Popper, lead singer of the band, Blues Traveler sang and wrote the lyrics to the little song. John Popper appeared in an episode last season (8), Of Mice and Dan. Morphing is done once again this season, as in last season, but this season each character appears in a picture frame. The picture frames are shown in rooms that are relative to that character. For example, the picture frame of Jackie is in the service porch in front of the washer and dryer, and D.J.'s is in front of the fridge where, in earlier seasons, his artwork supposedly hung. Roseanne appears at the beginning and end of the introduction.
Roseanne is humorously credited in this, and only this, episode as Roseanne Barr Pentland Arnold Thomas. Barr is Roseanne's maiden name. Roseanne has been married 3 times to Bill Pentland, Tom Arnold, and Ben Thomas. She is now divorced and once again goes by, at the time this was written, Roseanne Barr.
In this episode, Bev offers to buy happy meals from McDonalds for everyone. This is kinda an offbeat comment since happy meals are perhaps designed for children 12 and under.
In "Fights and Stuff", Dan wasn't supposed to excersize for two weeks when he got home. When he is supposidly excersizing, we are to assume that the episode takes place within 2-3 weeks. However in the this episode, Dan reminds David that he has only been married 8 days.
(Roseanne's been staying at Jackie's and Dan's been calling non-stop. Jackie tells her just to answer and not say anything, and just to listen.)
Roseanne: My marriage is not based on me listening.
Lyrics to song sang and written by John Popper which accompanies the season 9 introduction to the show.
What doesn't kill us is making us stronger.
We're gonna last longer than the greatest wall in China or that rabbit with the drum.
If there's one thing that I've learned while waiting for my turn is that in each life some rain falls, but you also get some sun.
And we'll make out better than okay.
Hear what I say?
Yeah, any day.
Mark: I bought D.J. tapes for the camera and he made me producer.
Roseanne: Spell producer Mark!
Mark: Dan knows you're not ready to come home so he wants to meet you on neutered territory.
Bev: Happy meals for everyone!
David: I love happy meals!
Darlene: Great. We'll strap you in your carseat and count little red trucks on the way home.
