  • Dan's true feelings about Jackie come out when he and Roseanne participate in a body language test.

    9.5
From out of the pages of Becky's "Teen Life" magazine, Roseanne and Dan agree to take a body language test. The plan is to see if they can communicate their thoughts to one another without speaking. But instead of reading Roseanne's mind, Dan conveys his true feelings about Jackie. He's tired of her meddling and of her being at their house all the time. Dan and Jackie turn on each other, leaving Roseanne in the middle trying to "mend fences". But, don't let this be the main focus of your viewing pleasure. Instead, zero in on little D.J. and Roseanne and the special moments they share together throughout this episode.

When D.J. redecorates Darlene's history project by accidentally crushing it, Roseanne comes to his rescue. He sits sadly on the steps. Rseanne asks, "Are you just going to sit here and let people walk all over you and pile junk on you?-- Here, I'll help you get started." Roseanne carefully drapes clothing over D.J., and gently wraps him in a plush toy snake. You can see his little shoulders go up and down with laughter under all the layers!

Roseanne is so soothing and wonderfully motherly (a side of her we sometimes seldom see) as she coaxes D.J. into the kitchen to be her "official chili taster". She playfully pretends to ride him like a little pony. They snuggle noses like tiny bunnies. These are truly adorable scenes!

D.J. delivers his line like the pro that he is when Roseanne asks him how the chili is. "it's just a little bit bland", he remarks as the corners of his mouth turn up ever so slightly.

Roseanne and D.J. really shine together in this episode. They let the viewers see just how deep their mother/son bond really is. I highly recomend this heart warming, love-filled episode.moreless
  • Dan v. Jackie

    10
Jackie is always at the house and Dan is annoyed by her. It gets to the point that he even knows what she is going to say without her even saying it. Roseanne is stuck in the middle of the argument, and she lets them fight out their battles.

This is one episode that I was really annoyed by Jackie, but then I realized how helpless she was later, especially in the episode where she joins the playgroup and never memorized the lines.

What was good about this episode was the way that everyone interacted in a time of argument.moreless
