  • One of the best episodes to watch! Becky and her friend, Dana do some social studies homework. They later get bored and find some ideas to do something. They play a game of "tornado", with stong alcohols and sodas; the girls get drunk.moreless

Roseanne, Dan, and D.J. are away visiting her mother. Darlene is also out to a practice game after school. Becky has her friend, Dana over to do social studies homework. They are talking about their assignments, they get an idea. Becky got an idea to play bartender, and have a few mixed drinks. She wants to know if Dana is game, and the fun begins. Becky pulls out all of the liqour bottles that the Conners have under the liquor cabinet. She starts to fill hers and Dana's glasses with an assortment of strong alcohols and a splash of diet soda. The girls start to drink, and move their party to the living room. Becky suggests that they need a little music, so she pulls out one of Dan's record collection. She starts to spin a few label, and gets pretty drunk. At the same time, Darlene shows up, bouncing her basketball, and grabs Becky's drink. As she gulps down a huge swallow, she cringes. Becky finds that funny. Dana asks where the bathroom is, and Becky tells her that they don't use a bathroom, they use a wok. Again she is laughing herself up. Becky grabs Darlene, and begins dancing her around in the living room. Darlene helps Becky upstairs to their room, and into bed, and she heads downstairs to tidy up. Dan, Roseanne, and D.J. arrive home, and wonder who was playing their records. Darlene says that Becky was messing around, listening to them for awhile. Meanwhile, Becky is still upstairs suffering from a hangover. The following day, Dana's mother shows up at the door. She was upset that the girls were left unsupervised with an unlocked fully stocked liquor cabinet. She explains to a puzzled Roseanne, that her daughter is suffering from a hangover. Roseanne sends Darlene to get Dan, as she calls Becky downstairs. Becky is slowly making her way down to the living room. Roseanne asks her if the girls were "getting crocked" here at the house yesterday. Becky says yes. Then she is asked who the bartender was, and Darlene pipes in with "wasn't it that girl that was here?" Roseanne apologizes to Dana's mother that it happened, and Becky will be dealt with. After Dana's mother leaves, they start to lecture Becky. Becky begins to argue with them, asking what the big deal was, saying that they drink. The arguement continues, until Dan suggests that he decides to put a lock on the liquor cabinet. Roseanne does not trust her until it is rebuild. Roseanne grounds Becky.moreless
  • One of my personal favorites.

Though not my favorite episode, this is definitely in my top 5 of this series.

To sum it up for you all, while Roseanne, Dan, DJ, and Darlene are away visiting Rosanne's mother, Beck and her friend Dana are "studying" and decide to get into the Conner family liquor cabinet. I think you can see what happens from there.

My favorite line of the entire episode is when Becky was in her room suffering from a hangover and Darlene keeps bringing up food. Becky yells, "Shut up, Darlene! Just go downstairs!" and Darlene replies, "You mean for some buttery, buckwheat pancakes and sausage?"

It's funnier when you see it. Classic TV right there, folks.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (2)

  • QUOTES (10)

    • Darlene: If you want, I can bring you up some breakfast a little later? Maybe some sausage that has that feeling when you bite down you can feel that crunch. (Becky visibly gags) Or one of those poached eggs, slightly undercooked... (Becky gets up and runs to the bathroom) so when you slice it open that runny stuff comes out and you have to use a spoon to eat it. (slurps an invisible spoon)

    • Becky: (drunk) My parents dig all those sounds before music was invented.
Becky's friend Dana: (also drunk) Mine too.

    • Becky's friend Dana's mother: (upset about her daughter coming home drunk) Who was the bartender?
Darlene: Wasn't it that girl that was over here studying with you?

    • Darlene: (After surprisingly spitting out Becky's drink which she had just stolen a sip of) That stuff tastes like sock sweat!

    • Darlene: Well, I'm going to go upstairs and flush the wok.

    • Becky: (suffering from a hangover) Shut up, Darlene! Just go downstairs!
Darlene: You mean for some buttery, buckwheat pancakes and sausage?

    • Darlene: How come the liquor cabinet is open?
Becky: I don't know. Maybe the wine had to breathe.

    • Roseanne: For God's sake, Becky, you're 14.
Becky: Mom, everything I do, it's always 'oh she's 14.' When you do something people don't go 'oh well she's 37'.
      Roseanne: 36 & 1/2.

    • Becky: This is my sister Larlene, Lardene, Dardine...
      (Dana pokes Darlene)
      Darlene: WHAT?!
      Dana: Where's your bathroom?
Becky: Oh, we don't have a bathroom, we use a wok.

    • Becky: (sarcastically) I have one drink and I'm an alcoholic, quick, I'll call the 800 number.
Roseanne: We are your 800 number, Becky.
