  • In this episode, David gets a job at a local Illinois amusement park, which at first seems to be a great idea, but later looks to be a place that turns normal people into bunny suit-wearing zombies.moreless

To me, this episode was probably one of the worst, if not the worst, Roseanne episode I've ever seen. This was just a retarted outline, and the way this amusement place operated was just too silly to believe any of it. It seemed like a bad dream. A Really bad dream, lol! And the entire speech she gives at the end of the episode about David not being allowed to have a drink and talk bad about his boss like people do at other jobs and that whole spill she gives just, to me, doesn't make the episode any better. Thumbs down for this one.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • There actually had been a failed amusement park in Chicago named "Edelweiss Gardens". It was established by the Edelweiss Brewery on the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed site of the former Midway Gardens. Due to mismanagement (and the fact that Prohibition hit shortly after it opened), the beer-themed park closed several years later.

    • "Edelweiss" is a German word for a special flower particularly growing in the mountains. By the way, it is actually written "Edelweiß".
However, when David moves into his room at the company the daily schedule says "Edelwiess" (wrong vowel order). Later, you see a picture in the seminar room and even later a writing on a building of the park of which both show the right vowel order, "Edelweiss".

    • In this episode, David takes a job at a local amusement park telling Roseanne that he's lived at the Conner home long enough. But, in the episode Lost Youth in season 7, David talks about being excited about studying art in college. He later goes on to graduate in the season 7 finale. He also, after graduating, takes a part-time job at a pizza parlor. What happened to college? David's college plans are never explained on the show.

  • QUOTES (4)

    • David: Why are you trying to make me come home?
Roseanne: Five words, David. You're dressed like a rabbit.

    • (At the credits)
David: No Mrs. Conner. I want to go back to Edelweiss Gardens so I can help people have fun again!
Roseanne: (a little angry) All right. Let's go over this one more time. Your name is David Healy. You frown. Your introspective, and you mope.
David: I'm Not Listening. I'm Not Listening.
Roseanne: Listen to me David. We don't whistle while we work! We grumble and complain and encourage others to do likewise.
David: Oh No, No, No, No!
Roseanne: Yes! Yes! Yes! Let me tell you a little something about your Edelweiss Gardens, David. It's mediocre food and mediocre fun at best. And you know why I know that David? 'Cause I am an EXPERT on what is mediocre.
      David: (panting with anger)
Roseanne: That's good! You hate me now, don't you David?! Your feeling hate. You hate me right now, don't you?
David: No! No, no I don't! (back to smiling) Your a paying customer, and I respect and admire you!
Roseanne: (angry) LIAR! Break damn you!! Break! Listen to me, David! RABBITS AND GEESE AND GOATS ARE NOT PEOPLE!! THEY DON'T SING AND DANCE!! THEY'RE FOOD!!!!!!!!!
      David: NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
      Roseanne: There...There.... Welcome home, son.

    • Roseanne: You say these people are free, but are they? After they've worked, can they sit down, guzzle booze and talk trash about their boss like at any other American job? No they can't. Now, I am going to take David and we are going to get in my junkie car and drive along the polluted river where we're liable to get car jacked or run off the road by drunks. And take him back to our poor house in our white trash neighborhood, and dash through the door as quick as we can before we get robbed. Now that is MY America, and I thank God that I'm free to enjoy it!

    • Jackie: I hear the owner of this place had his body frozen when he died.
Roseanne: Remind me not to eat any snowcones around here.

  • NOTES (0)

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • In this episode, David takes a job at a local amusement park where under the impression that he is going to get a job with the art department, ends up finding himself dressed as a corporate bunny, Hans the hare. In the previous episodes, the Conner family went to Walt Disney World. Obviously, this episode is spinning off, in a way, of the previous episodes. In 1996, Disney purchased ABC. As a requirement, Roseanne, the show (which airs on the network, ABC) did 2 episodes revolving around Walt Disney World.
