    • Jackie: (To Roseanne who is sulking because Jackie was chosen over her to play the mom in the Rodbell's television commercial). Come on, Roseanne, it's been two weeks...Everybody else has let it drop, can't you?... Come on...
Roseanne: (chuckles) Okay. I guess, ya know, it's not like I'd ever win an Emmy or anything.

Roseanne's remark is an allusion to the fact that both she and Laurie Metcalf had been nominated for Emmys. This episode's original air date was March 3, 1992. Later, in August of 1992, Laurie won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Roseanne. Roseanne (Arnold, at the time), who was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Roseanne, lost the Emmy to Candice Bergen for Murphy Brown.
