    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    FILTER BY TYPE

    • TRIVIA (1)

      • During the last four seasons of the show, recurring guest stars Johnny Galecki (David) and Glenn Quinn (Mark) actually appear in more episodes than their on-screen girlfriends/wives Sara Gilbert (Darlene) and Sarah Chalke/Lecy Goranson (Becky)

    • QUOTES (16)

      • Roseanne: Socks go in the top drawer!
        Darlene: Why?
        Roseanne: It's the rule.
        Darlene: Well who says?
        Roseanne: God!

      • Darlene: I kinda slept with David.
        Roseanne: Oh boy.
        Darlene: Are you mad?
        Roseanne: I don't know, was I home?
        Darlene: No.
        Roseanne: Were you?
        Darlene: Yeah. I was careful.
Roseanne: Well I knew you would be.
Darlene: Are you upset with me?
Roseanne: No, I already knew, I just pretended I didn't so I could live.

      • Roseanne: (worrying to Jackie about how Dan will be affected when Darlene leaves for college) Him and Darlene, they have that kind of special buddy thing going. She's kinda like his cool son.

      • Roseanne: (trying to get Dan to interfere and forbid her to let David drive Darlene to college) Yeah, I know, but, so what? You could forbid me to do that.
        Dan: In what universe?!?

      • Roseanne: (begging Dan to forbid her to let David drive Darlene to college) Please, Dan, please forbid me! I thought you were suppose to be the man of the house!
        Dan: OH, YOU DID NOT!!!

      • David: (because Darlene will be leaving for college) I was thinking-- maybe we should get married.
        Darlene: (shocked) Engaged?
        David: Yeah.
Darlene: (confused) David, are-are you asking me to marry you???
        David: (pauses to think) Alright.

      • Jackie: (saying good-bye to Darlene who will be away at college) Ya know, someday, I know that you're gonna write this good-bye scene in one of your stories, so, when you do, give me something really clever and really wise to say. (laughs a little; then gets serious) And, ah, maybe a bigger chest.
        Darlene: You got 'em!

      • Dan: (hugging Darlene good-bye, then pulling out his wallet) Oh, here's a credit card for emergencies. You can only use it once cuz your gramma doesn't know we have it.

      • Roseanne: I'm only gonna say this once, Dan, and tomorrow, if you ask me, I might deny that I said it at all, but, I like having kids.
        Dan: Our kids???

      • Roseanne:All human beings connect sex and love... except for men.

      • Darlene: Mom, can I talk to you a minute? I need to ask you a really big favor.
Roseanne: Well let's see, I let you go to art school and I let your boyfriend move in. Oh, yeah-- I gave you life. Yeah, I guess I owe you one.

      • Roseanne: (to Dan) Remember when Darlene was six, and she took one of your unemployment checks to school?

      • Roseanne: You know, Darlene...even if I wasn't your mother, I'd still like to know you.

      • Darlene: Ah, were you a virgin when you married Dad?
        Roseanne: YES I WAS!
        Darlene: Really?
        Roseanne: Absolutely, I still am.
        Darlene: Oh, so you weren't.
        Roseanne: No. No. 'Kay? No.
Darlene: WOW! My mom's a big tramp!
Roseanne: Don't get so excited, I did it with your DAD.

      • Darlene: Mom, what do you really think about my apartment?
Roseanne: I really think it's cool.

      • Dan: (To Roseanne) Drive safe, and don't flip anybody off that you can't outrun!

    • NOTES (1)

      • In episodes 123-131, there is no actress credited as "Becky," since Lecy Goranson had left and Sarah Chalke was not yet part of the cast. The title sequence for these episodes is slightly different than the title sequence that is used for the remainder of Season 6 and Season 7.

    • ALLUSIONS (2)

      • Roseanne: (singing a song the way Becky use to when she was little and sang along with the radio) Gypsies, chimpanzees! We heard it from the people in the town! (Dan joins in singing) They called us gypsies, chimpanzees-- and every night, all the men would come around and lay the monkey down...

Roseanne and Dan are making an allusion to the lyrics of recording artist Cher's song, "Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves".

      • Roseanne: You know, Dan, I'm really a good mother.
        Dan: No arguments here.
Roseanne: No, no, no. I mean, like a really, really good mom-- like top five, ya know? Giving Mary a run for her money.
Dan: Haloed one's got nothing on you.

Roseanne and Dan are making an allusion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ.
