The Gooseberry Bush
AIRED:
Rosemary and Laura are helping Penelope Braxton to create a garden. Penelope is remarrying her former husband, Tim, and the garden will be Penelope's wedding present for him.

To their amazement, Rosemary and Laura find a baby boy abandoned under a gooseberry bush in the garden - and they have to look after him while they try to find out who the mother is. And then events take an even more dramatic turn when neighbouring artist Sir Carlos Potter is found murdered. Is his death connected with the foundling? Meanwhile, Rosemary is enchanted by the child the stork brought.moreless

  • A foundling, really stupid decisions, and a condescending way to get Rosemary concerned over a child. Blech.

    1.0
I mostly checked out halfway through this episode due to the crap the writer(s) expected us to swallow:

    A)Laura wouldn't be able to tell a baby's cry from a cat's yowl.

B)Laura would let the child alone in the back of an unsecured Land Rover.(!?!)

C)Rosemary could only get gushy over a baby if she was primed by her nephew's baby's christening.

D)Neither woman would inform the police ASAP about an abandoned baby, no matter if it was 20 feet or the stated 20 miles away.

E)These gals-with Laura an ex-copper, to boot-wouldn't turn in a potential murder weapon.

Yes, "Charlie" was cute and the gals bent a bit of logic or reason as they tend to in cozies, but this was just too much. Still, the fight at the end was saved by the delightful Pam Ferris. When she popped up to make her call, the look on her face was grand and about put me on the floor!

Recommended for the odd rainy afternoon when you are bored and don't want to think too hard or for fans of the leads.
