  • Interesting turn of events.

    9.0
I was wondering when the show would start having some of the same storyline as X-files. In this episode spotlights Michael, the story is about the only thing he remembers from the incident with the native Indians. The dome shape that he remembers leads them and especially him into trouble. One thing that it annoys me with Michael's character is disregard for his own personal safety and that of his fellow aliens when it comes finding out the truth about their heritage. Its funny how they use lies to cover up the truth. This episode has an interesting cliffhanger. I would have to say this is one of the better episodes so far.moreless
  • Road trip!!!

    10
This is probably my favorite episode of the whole series. The beginning of Micheal and Maria, my favorite couple and it all begins with him stealing her car and her deciding it was best to tag along. Their class assignment was planned perfectly and it was good to see Isabel and Liz talking and Isabel plays it cold and passive perfectly. Kyle, who always ends up on the bottom,is once again left behind while trying to play the hero. But what this episode is really about is Micheal and Maria helping him and asking them those questions brings out his sensitive side, this episode is really a turning point towards the better during the first season.moreless
  • In this episode everybody is assigned to learn more about each other. Klye and Max get each other and tension ensues. Micheal wants to go to Texas to use the key so he steals Maria's car with her in it. Then they go off on their little adventuremoreless

This episode is my absolute favorite, i've seen it like 20 times and it is always great. Michell and Maria have excellent chemistry and all of their scences together are really good. The banter between the two of them is classic and we learn alot more about both of theirs past. Also Izzy is such the classic mean girl in this episode that it is perfect. Every thing about this episode is great and the scene at the end when they find the bunker full of stuff is great. And the scence where the sheriff is taken down is pretty hilarioiusmoreless
  • The beging of a beautiful realationship. *Spoilers*

This episode marks the begining of "the spikey haired freak" and "that Maria girl's" relationship.

Michael steals Maria's car and inadvertantly "kidnaps" Maria, she wouldn't get out of the car, on a quest to find out about his past i Marathon, Texas.

On the journey to Marathon, Michael and Maria began to see a different side of each other and realize that they have more in common than they thought.

Between Michael and Maria's bickering/bonding, Isabel and Liz come to an understanding, while Max and Liz come a little further in their relationship.

This is one of my favorite episodes, mainly because of Michael and Maria. Their question and answer sessions for the history project are great.moreless
  • It Happened One Night

    8.6
This episode was the very start of the Maria and Michael couple. I always found them the most entertaining and interesting couple in the show. This episode slightly inspired by the Frank Capra film It Happened One Night; Michael's search for the dome is really just a macguffin for this story, the real plot and story is in the time both Maria and Michael spend. It funny just seeing how both of them get on each other nerves. From Maria in her usual ditzy and insecure feelings to Michael's arrogance and half baked planning. But futher along we see both of them begin to understand one another and warm up to each other. They warm up so much they almost kiss one another. Although I felt the only major flaw was Max, Isabel, and Liz found both Maria and Michael a little too easily, it doesn't seem plasable that they would conveniently find the motel both Maria and Michael are staying in, it's a cheat a deus ex machina device that was tacked on. But this isn't really that important it's the chemestry both Maria and Michael had along the road that matters.moreless

-Isabel uses her powers to remove the coffee from hers and Liz's blouses.
-Michael receives a vision from the key in the geodesic dome.
-Max uses his powers to open the first door of the geodesic dome.
-Michael tries to fix the Jetta with his powers and ends up setting it on fire instead.
-Max uses his powers to fix a tear in the jeep's cover.

    • It seems odd that Kyle was able to find Liz based on their minimal conversation, especially considering that Liz never revealed which highway they took. It's also strange that he was able to catch up to them so quickly, considering that they left hours before Kyle and Liz spoke.

    • When Michael and Maria were stopped for speeding on #285 by the highway patrol, Maria's shoulder seatbelt seems to disappear. Depending on the camera shot, she is seen wearing the belt and sitting forward, or leaning back and the belt is not visible.

  • QUOTES (16)

    • Max: Liz, I'm sorry.
Liz: Yeah, we're gonna get through somehow.
Max: I don't mean about the roadblock. I mean about everything. For Michael taking Maria. For Isabel being so...Isabel. We're not all the same, you know.
Liz: Yeah, I've known that for a really long time. I'm sorry too, Max, you know, for Kyle and how my stupid, boring life could possibly get you guys into trouble.
Max: First of all, nothing about you is stupid. And secondly...it feels like...my life didn't even start until I told you the truth that day.
Liz: Yeah, I know what you mean.

    • Liz: (about Max) Isabel, I'm...I'm not trying to take him away from you. I mean...I could never even do that.
      Isabel: I know.
Liz: But what if you guys found something in Marathon? Would you take him away from me?

    • Maria: Uh, favorite book?
      Michael: James Joyce, Ulysses.
Maria: You have not read Ulysses.
Michael: "What incensed him the most was the blatant jokes of the ones who passed it all off as a jest, pretending to know everything, and in reality, not knowing their own minds." Page 655. Told you wouldn't understand. Next question.
Maria: All right, if you're so smart, then how come you fail every class in school?
      Michael: What number is that?
Maria: It's my own personal question, okay?
Michael: I don't answer personal questions, okay?

    • Kyle: All right, number 4, what's your favorite TV show?
Max: I don't watch much television, you?
Kyle: America's Most Wanted. I watch it with my Dad... all right, all right, let's get to the good ones. Oh, uh, what's the best things that's ever happened to you?
      Max: Getting adopted I guess.
Kyle: I'm gonna shed a tear.
Max: What's the best thing that ever happened to you?
Kyle: Winning the statewide junior rifle competition.

    • Michael: We don't need any help!
Maria: Right, next time try stealing someone else's car and getting away with it.

    • Michael (gestures to bed): I don't suppose we could share?
Maria (slowly stands up suggestively, moves closer to Michael): Not if you were the last alien on Earth.

    • Maria: You're stealing my car!
Michael: I'm borrowing your car. Now get out.

    • Milton (gestures to Michael): Please, he's a hoodlum, Max doesn't know people like that.
      Max: Well, actually...

    • Mr Somers (as the camera focusses on Max & Isabel): Everybody has their secrets. There isn't a person alive today, who's what they appear to be...

    • Michael: It was all just one big mistake.
(Turns and bolts down the stairs, right into the policeman.)
      Deputy: You're right about that!

    • Michael (after landing on alien dummy whilst breaking in to the UFO center): Sorry buddy.

    • Isabel: The perfect Liz Parker lying to her mother?
Liz: Yeah well at least she know's what species I am.

    • Isabel: I believe you. The day Michael calls anyone honey it's all over.

    • Maria: You can't just make up answers.
Michael: Who said I'm makin' em up?
Maria: You do not watch The View.
Michael: It keeps me in touch with my feminine side.

    • Maria: Oh My God! You're kidnapping me. No wait... you're abducting me!

    • (After seeing the motel room they are about to spend the night in.)
Maria: It's like the porno version of Aladdin!
