  • Great episode!

Wow, a great episode where everything changes, and a whole lot more is revealed than the previous episodes that were kind of slow and not really going anywhere.

I also think it's probably a bit risky showing semi-naked children and a presumed sibling couple having feelings for each other and even making out (even if it does happen in dreams!), and it surprised me they got it past the censors...perhaps they weren't looking ;)

Aside from everything else there was also a great little nod to the science fiction classic novel "Childhood's End" by Arthur C.Clarke (HINT: it's in the library), the classic novel from the 50s about First Contact!

  • Make out fest!

    6.8
Four Square is another of those Roswell episodes where there is just TOO much kissing. So much it's actually quite annoying. If you don't watch TV for those kind of scenes, you won't like this episode at all.

In this episode, Isabel and Michael have visions that they're together and have a baby. I had my doubt since the start of this show about those two but seeing it on screen, it just doesn't work. Please tell us these visions aren't real and not about things to come!

Another thing that annoyed me. Colin Hanks wears a chain to his belt. I don't know about you but this was no longer trendy around 1995. These episodes aired in 2000. What is he doing with this? Was it still a trend in California (where the show was shot) or New Mexico (where the show takes place)?

Anyways, the story still progress but there are some annoying things here and there.moreless

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • In the shots of the children on the spacecraft, the seams of their body suits are visible.

    • When Max, Isabel & Michael meet in the kitchen at night. Isabel is wrapped in a blanket and sitting at the counter. At first she is facing straight ahead towards Max, but when Max walks over to Michael, the next shot shows Isabel is now turned and facing Michael and Max.

    • When Isabel prints out Tess' class schedule the printer sounds like a laser printer. However, it is clearly an HP Deskjet.

  • QUOTES (16)

    • Isabel: Alex and I are together now.
Michael: Maria and I are going steady.
      Isabel: Great.
      Michael: Great.

    • Michael: I think we should only see each other.
Maria: Great. As opposed to all of the other relationships we're having with other people.
Michael: What do you mean by that?
Maria: No, I mean, we already are only seeing each other, right?
      Michael: Yeah.
Maria: Right... yeah, unless you've got someone on the side.
      Michael: No.
      Maria: Okay.
Michael: So, if we're already doing it, let's make it official.
Maria: Official? Like going steady or something?
      Michael: Going steady.

    • Isabel: Alex, I've been thinking.
Alex: Oh, this can't be good.
Isabel: You know how I said that I wanted to take things slow?
Alex: The word glacial comes to mind.
Isabel: Maybe it's time to melt the ice.
      Alex: What?
Isabel: I'm ready for a relationship. And I want it to be with you. Not with anyone else I know.
      Alex: There's someone else?
Isabel: No, no, absolutely not. Only you.

    • Michael: I've been thinking.
Maria: Oh, great. That usually involves me having to get my car towed.
Michael: What? I'm talking about us.
      Maria: Us?
      Michael: Yeah, our relationship.
Maria: Wait. I've never heard you use that word in a sentence before.

    • Kyle (to Liz): Can't beat a blonde... Oh, sorry.

    • Michael: Why are you so scared of being alien?
Max: Why are you so scared of being human?

    • Maria (referring to Tess): Operation never-leave-Max-alone-for-an-instant. That way one of us is always around in case she works a voodoo on you again.

    • Michael: You just wanna deny who we really are?
Max: I want us to stay who we really are.

    • Isabel: You've seen them too, haven't you?
      Michael: The dreams.
Isabel: The rock formation, the symbol...
      Michael: The two of us...
Isabel: The baby... I think it's all true, Michael, I think I'm pregnant with your child. How can this be?
(They stand staring out the window at the V constellation)
Michael: Something weird like this had to happen sooner or later. No matter what Max wants to think, we're not human, Isabel.
Isabel: Oh my God, Michael, what are we going to do?
      (They hug)

    • Max: Michael's been doing this all his life, you know - always thinking he knows better than us but just always getting us into more trouble.
Liz: Max, families can be hard.
Max: I don't even know if that's what we are - I mean, that's what we've pretended to be for so long, but what if Nasedo tells us something different? Doesn't Michael even think about these things?
Liz: You are who you choose to be. Just like...just like you're with who you choose to be with.

    • Max (to Michael about Nasedo): That's why he's here! That's why he's pretending to be Tess! You led him straight to us!

    • Max: And you're sure you both had the same dream? The rock formation, the map on the ground, everything?
      Michael: Yeah.
Max: Think, was there anything else, anything unusual? I mean, what were you guys doing in the middle of the desert?
      Isabel & Michael: Nothing!
(Max looked sharply at Michael, who didn't meet his eyes)
      Isabel: Nothing important.

    • Isabel (about Tess): Did you feel like something inside of you is changing, like waking up?
      Max: Something primal...
      Isabel: Instinctive...
      Max: Something not human...

    • Tess: Pay attention, Isabel, there are signs all around you.

    • Max: The three of us, no matter what we may discover about ourselves, we were raised Human... Nasedo's an alien, Nasedo's killed.

    • Isabel: I don't think that anyone, or anything, that would pretend to be a teenage girl in order to seduce Max is on our side.
