This was a great episode. But it doesn't leave you feeling great. Yes, there is the "happy ending" for Michael & Maria as we witness another "sweet thing" that Michael does for Maria. But the blossuming of a real relationship between Alex and Isabel has real foreboding. And the end of the prom for Max and Liz is heartbreaking. Tess is one of those charecters that we can't seem to like and we can't seem to hate. She's "in the way" but not really of her own choosing. She seems more out of place than any of them - yet she is only trying to follow her heart and her destiny. Both of which seem to take a major step forward at the end of this episode.moreless

It's near the end of the year already which means it's time for the prom!

Maria introduces again in this episode and she's as always, pretty funny. Also her white dress at the prom just looks very good on her. Anyways...

I realized in this episode how I wanted Sean to die. No really... He doesn't really have much of a point here, we all know Liz will never be with him. He's a loser, Liz has a great future ahead of her. He just seems like some ''filler-character''.

The ''last time we were together line'' don't make much of sense by the end of this episode. It's a jaw dropping tragedy is about to happen and you learn about in the next episode.moreless

It's prom.

Let me start by saying that this is one of the only episodes where I like Maria's chalkboard recap at the beginnnig because it is cute, funny and corny much like prom is. Tess and Kyle are great in this episode and this is one of the episodes where I really like her and when Kyle has the revelation that he likes her as a sister instead of something to do it is really adorable. Then Max and Liz are being melodramatic as always and I'm happy that Liz finally realized that she was suffocating and that she was doing it to herself by not letting Max go. Even thought I'm not a fan of Sean I really liked him in this episode and the scene with her on the alley was one of those visually interesting scenes. Isabel and Alex were also great in this episode, because they are finally getting there chance.

Maria and Micheal were really cute in this episode and the classic meeting older women who turns out to be helping him do something for her story line is used, and it is used well.

The best scene in this whole episode is in the crashdown when they are taking the photo and Liz's voice over says she feels like it will be the last time they will be together like that which really has a double meaning because everything changes after this episode and this is the point where this season gets so good.moreless

Our favorite gang of Aliens and their beloved friends are off to the prom, but not before some drama.

At first Micheal tells Maria that he will not take her, and she begins to think he is seeing someone else. She enlists the help of Liz to break into Micheal's house, she finds a womans address, she goes there and thinks that she sees Micheal hugging, and kissing another girl.

Liz asks Max to put everything aside and go with her to the prom, he agrees. Max tells Liz that he is beginning to remember his old life on his planet. He tells her that Tess is helping him do this.

Isabel asks Alex to the prom he turns her down at first and then later he asks her when he finds out that she will be graduating this year.

Kyle asks Tess to go with him, while at the prom Kyle realizes while defending Tess, when another guy starts to put her down, that he thinks of her as sister.

Maria finds out that Micheal was really learning how to dance from the other woman, but she declared him unteachable.

Liz tells Max she can't handle the suspense of waiting for him to break her heart again.

Max kisses Tess and Liz sees it all.

Liz then goes to hang out with Shaun, Maria's cousin at the bowling alley.

A really great episode.moreless

Prom night beckons - and let's face it, it didn't go well for Jamie Lee Curtis!

Proms aren't a tradition in England, so my only experience of them is through American film and TV. So we have Prom Night & Prom Night II (mad killers on the loose), Buffy (mad dogs on the loose) and a myriad of others, where nothing seems to go right for anyone. Why do you people still do this!!!!???

First there's the horrible ritual of plucking up enough courage to ask someone, with the possibility of being shot down in flames. This is handled well in this episode, especially given the complexity of some of the relationships. And corsages - what are they all about?? Ah well.. to the episode

Kyle is really coming into his own as quite a fuller character - still one of the outside characters, like Alex - but his Buddhism provides a different perspective for him.

Liz and Max continue to not have a single clue about what to do - so drawn to each other, but not able to be together or apart.

Newsflash: Max actually smiles in this episode.

Maria makes a fool of herself, believing Michael to have a new woman on the side, who turns out to be his dance teacher. Again Michael does a nice thing for her.

Sean continues to be pretty annoying. I've tried writing his name in mustard, but he's still there.

Isabel and Alex grow closer despite themselves.

Tess continues to be vaguely outside the bunch. She's the one we like to hate, but only because she's coming between Max & Liz, but the last two can't be together anyway, so what does it matter, except it does... etc. Gee this stuff is confusing.

The most intriguing thing though is that, since everyone is dressed to the nines, why has Maria (who can look truly truly beautiful) decided to dress like the love child of Marie Antoinette and Little Bo Peep?moreless
