  • A heat wave leads to change.

This episode has important moments for all the key pairing of the show. Micheal and Maria are great together in this episode and it is nice to see them together and happy for the first half of the episode. When he breaks it off it is really sad because they are so perfect for each other. In addition the scenes between Max and Micheal where he is cautioning his buddy from getting too serious. The developments between Max and Liz are nice and it is good that they finally kiss at the end of this episode. I am happy that Kyle has moved on too, because he was getting a little pathetic. The sheriff and Maria's mom are cute together. And the parts between Alex and Isabel are really sweet and when Liz confesses in the jail is hilarious and Alex's reaction is pirceless.moreless
  • More character development. This topic cover more on feelings.

    8.0
Heat Wave is a perfect title for this episode. We get to see the relationships evolve more than just Liz and Max. We get to see more of Maria and Michael and to the extent Isabel and Alex. The passion is there and it gets to be a bit more hot and heavy. We get to more of Isabel's powers and how she can use it to find information about a person and what they think and dream. Its interesting the way some people perceive other people because of what they know. Add to that these people are teenagers we get to see a bit more fun.moreless
  • Hot weather sets off sparks between the major couples

    10
The opening scene of this episode is probably my favorite scene in the entire show. It's really well directed and edited, and although Santana's song fits the scene best, the dvd song doesn't change the amazing hotness of Michael and Maria's passionate session at the Crashdown. These two just had amazing chemistry and it's the main reason why this scene works so well. Brendan and Majandra's chemistry was as strong as Jason and Shiri's, which is why the relationships between Michael/Maria and Max/Liz are by far the fan favorites of all three seasons. Both couples are given a chance to shine in this ep and the sparks between them are at an all-time high.

Katie and Colin have a nice chemistry together, which is why Isabel and Alex also became well-liked together by fans and they make such a cute couple. The scene where Isabel dreamwalks Alex is just beautiful. The ways in which Michael, Maria, Max and Liz interact with each other affect their relationship developments. Michael begins to meet up regularly with Maria in the Eraser Room, generally known by the students there to be the make-out room. Then he meets up with Max in the guys' bathroom to discuss how things between he and Maria are progressing. At the same time, Liz has made Max aware of the fact that she knows there's something going on between Michael and Maria, and talks to Maria about it in the girls' bathroom to make sure she isn't getting in over her head without knowing how Michael really feels. We learn through Max and Michael's conversations that Michael feels strongly about Maria, but is scared to get in an actual relationship with her through fear of ultimately hurting her; and this in turn prompts Max to assess what's going on between him and Liz, which leads to their first kiss.

In the meantime, Alex, whilst dealing with his feelings for Isabel, is hurt that Liz is holding back the truth from him. Ultimately she can't lie to him anymore because of their strong friendship which is restored in this episode.

A personal favorite, focusing on the three main couples and their developing relationships.moreless
  • This episode is the BEST!!!

    9.8
The BEEESSSTTT...! Michael and Maria are on fire, Isabel See's Alex with another eyes, Liz tell the Trude about Max, Michael and Isabel to Alex and finally Max and Liz give the first kiss...so is the best episode, they get together finally, that's the first contact with all together. Michael is afraid to became in love with Maria and broke is heart...he breaks with her, this only made them together more. I just love Roswell, and this episode is when everything begins, because they are all together now, Max, Liz, Michael, Maria, Isabel and Alex, now they all are looking for the true of Max, Michael and Isabel...love this episode!moreless
  • it's getting hot ion here

"it fell so wrong but it fell so good" that is what Michael said to max about him and Maria, that is a sexy sentence (I'm just kidding). Michael was really hot in that episode. so about this episode. everyone was making out, Liz and max too but at the end. it was pretty intense for an episode. in the end Michael is pulling back because he is scared of what he is felling. we also see that Kyle is trying to get over Liz with a girl that has my name. Alex is finally in the loop and Isabel is watching herself in Alex's dream.moreless

  • QUOTES (8)

    • Michael: Well I hate to tell you this Max but when I have urges, you're not exactly the first person I think about.

    • Max: When I saw Valenti taking you away like that... it just hit home for me, you know? How much knowing me has screwed up your life.
Liz: No, it's just the opposite.
Max: Thank you for saying that.
Liz: It's the whole truth, Max.
      Max: I better go.
      Liz: Why?
Max: 'Cause if I don't go right now, things are gonna change.
      Liz: Change, how?
Max: I'm gonna have to touch your hair... 'it's so soft... and I'd have to tell you that... no matter what we go through, it's all worthwhile for me because we're together.
      Liz: And then?
Max: And then... I'd have to do this... (they kiss)

    • Alex: I like the way you look in red.
      Isabel: I know.

    • Max: What's wrong? Maria?
Michael: It has gotten complicated. Suddenly, she wants to know where I'm going after school. She wants to have conversations. She wants to talk about my feelings. And now, she wants to go to a party together.
Max: That thing at the old soap factory?
Michael: Right. Like suddenly the eraser room's not enough. I can't let this become a public thing. I mean, she should know that. But all week long I've had this weird feeling. Like I was gonna hurt her or something. That just being who I am is gonna hurt her.

    • Liz: Max, you know when you said before that we couldn't be together? That we were different? I just sort of accepted it, you know? Because I thought that it was like physically impossible. That it... that it couldn't be. But when I saw Maria with Michael... the truth is that... I was hurt, Max. Why is it ok for them, but it's not ok for us?
Max: Liz, I think that what I'm afraid of isn't that we try this and it works out really badly. What I'm afraid of is we try it and it works out really well. I'm afraid of feeling everything that I know I would feel. Because I know it's not meant to be. And somewhere down the line, we're gonna get hurt. I can live with that. I just couldn't bear to hurt you.

    • Liz: Max, Michael and Isabel...they aren't from around here.
      Alex: Where are they from?
      (Liz points up)
      Alex: What, like Wyoming?
      (Liz points higher)
Alex: Fine. Canada. They're Canucks. So, what you're saying is that the FBI is all over them because they're... illegal aliens?
      Liz: Yeah. Sort of.

    • Maria (about her and Michael): We were just... sucking face.

    • Michael (about making out with Maria): It feels so wrong but it feels so good.
