  • Isabel is getting visions

    8.5
I say that this episode is painful to watch because it is so hard to watch Valenti make such bad desicions and you can feel him losing his job from the beginning of the episode. As a sheriff he should really be able to come up with a better excuse than a lost bike. That made me so angry because it was like he was asking to lose his job. Also he was completely inappropriate with Grant. But I did like this episode, I like the story arc that it sets up for Micheal and the end of the world and what not, but it is also nice to see Isabel given something to do and use her powers to help instead of her usual of changing nail polish colors and things like that.moreless
  • An average episode that focuses on the Sheriff.

    7.4
This episode was pretty good, but nothing special. If nothing else, it sets up a future arc, while being a mostly stand-alone episode. These are tough to come by in this highly arc-driven series, but they are refreshing once in a while. This episode is pretty much a police investigation with the Roswell twist on it. Isobel has visions of a girl being killed while dream walking which causes Sheriff Valenti to risk his job looking for the girl. In this episode we see some good development of the Sheriff which I have long been looking forward. I’ve always thought he was one of the most interesting characters and was very underused. Overall, an average episode.moreless
  • Jim Valenti is being investigated because of his weird bahaviors for the past few months. And Liz now has a new crush.

    7.6
And the man doing the investigation is the actor playing Holtz on Angel.

The episodes starts with Isabel entering Liz's dreams. A dream that is by the way, really ridiculous. I was embarassed for her and the authors could have used this better. But now all we know is that Liz fantasizes about men who has a lot of muscles.

Anyways, there is a dream that comes to Isabel. From someone who is in danger. Isabel then uses Valenti and his ressources to help the girl. But this leads Valenti into a world of trouble as he already under investigation for weird bahaviors.

The ending is pretty freaky. It's not that they show something scarry, it's because some weird flashes appear at the moment you least expect it. It's pretty good.moreless
  • The Girl in the Plastic Body Bag

    3.4
An interesting episode which puts the spotlight on Isabel, Kyle and Valenti, To Protect and Serve is the first part of the four-part Hybrid Chronicles.

The episode has Isabel having visions of a young girl being dragged through woodland in a body bag and buried alive. Meanwhile, Valenti is visited by an old friend from the state police force who is investigating the Hubble murder back in season one and Valenti's relationship with Max and Isabel.

Katherine Heigl is brilliant in this episode as her paranoia grows about her visions. The opening sequence is brilliantly bizarre, with Isabel journeying inside the dreams of both Liz and Kyle. Kyle's is hilarious, with him on the edge of a cliff, preying with Buddha, who then gets a call to be beamed upward in some weird Star Trek-like manor. Her visions of body bag girl are also really unsettling and are some of the creepiest scenes in Roswell history

Valenti's storyline is slightly dull but definitely helps evolve his underused character. I liked the subplot between Kyle and Tess, in which Kyle is worried that he may soon exhibit alien abilities, and it just shows that these two characters are some of the funniest on the show.

I'm slightly annoyed that this is another big arc story. Season two has gone through three mini-arcs already (Whitaker, the Skins and Nicholas, the Dupes) and I'm annoyed that this new one is going to go on for as long as it is. It isn't massively interesting and there's yet another blonde girl at the center of it. With Leanna later on this season, who can really tell the difference between her, Laurie and Courtney?

This is a slightly dull episode which has some good visuals (the dream sequences) but has some extremely dull scenes. The new Liz/Sean relationship isn't interesting either. Enough of Liz's boyfriend dilemmas already!moreless
  • Valenti protects the aliens

    8.5
In this episode Isabel sees visions of a girl buried alive. Valenti puts his reputation on the line to find her, but then discovers that the girl Isabel identified is NOT the missing girl. Without giving away too much of the plot, Valenti's loyalty is eventually justified. If there are any remaining doubts regarding his protection of their secret, it is wiped away in this episode.

  • QUOTES (4)

    • Kyle: Tess is openly mocking me now. This morning, I woke up with a little antenna coming out of my head.
Liz: I don't know what to say. We need professional help.

    • Valenti: All right, let me get this straight. You can go into people's dreams?
Isabel: Yes, but usually I choose whose dreams I go into. This one just came to me.
Valenti: Well, how do you know this was real, and not just somebody's nightmare you stumbled into?
Isabel: I don't know, but it felt real. She needs help.

    • Liz: I need help. I'm sick, okay? I am an obsessed person.
Maria: Okay, is this a general freak-out or should I be concerned?
Liz: No. I have Max on my brain 24 hours a day, okay? I dream about him, I-I think about him and now, now I am saying his friggin' name, you know, without even realizing it.

    • Isabel: After everything we've been through, after all the pain we've caused, I just... I just wanted what we are, what I am, to do something good for a change.
