Round The Twist

Show Summary

Welcome to the Round the Twist guide at TV.com. Round The Twist is a wacky TV series written by the hilarious children's author, Paul Jennings. It follows the bizarre lives of the Twist family. Tony Twist (aka dad) and his three children--the twins, Pete and Linda, and youngest son, Bronson--move from "The Big Smoke" (the city) to the sea-side village of Port Niranda. They move into an old lighthouse, previously owned by their new neighbour, Nell, and their new lives begin. Strange things happen to the Twist family, strange but hilarious things.

  • I always loved this show since I was seven years of age.

Round the twist is a great show and it is also hilarious. But I have no single clue why they had named this show Round the twist but I am sure that it means that it obviously has something to do with the Twist family. Anyway Wunderpants was so funny mainly because of those silly Chinese photographers saying "Look at that" (that's what I think they were saying) in their language. And at the frog race I knew Mugger was definetly a toad which Bronson said but Gribbs and Rabbit objected it. Anyway I really love this show and I hope to see all the episodes, as for what I said about Goosebumps! This show rocks.moreless
  • Have you ever - ever felt like this?

This has been (for many years) one of the top rated Australian TV shows for kids.

The first two seasons were written by one of Australia's most loved kid's authors (Paul Jennings).

It involves a normal family known as the Twists who move into a lighthouse (you don't see many TV shows where the main characters live in a lighthouse, do you?). However, after moving in, strange events start occuring at an alarming rate - such as ghosts appearing, eerie noises in the dead of night, babies being born in cabbage patches(?), brains being sucked out of heads, toys coming alive, birds with bladder problems, boys becoming pregnant....

Although much of it sounds immature and usually can be, just remember this is a show that was specifically made for kids. However, many adults have also come to appreciate the irreverent nature of this show. The writers have actually done a good job at making this pretty much family fare.

This show has won high appraisal from many critics also and remains a show that for many Australian kids (some of whom are now well into their 20s) still cherish today. It also remains one of the only Australian made kid's shows that still gets a regular airing in Australia.moreless
  • One of the best kids shows of the 90's.

    7.0
Ah, I remember watching this show from a very early age. The amazing adventures that the characters had, the twisted plots, and strange characters. It was creative, funny, and original. We certainly could do with more shows these days that have the charm and charisma of this one. Kudos to Paul Jennings, too.

The acting wasn't the greatest, and neither were the special effects, props, and whatnot... but as a kid, it was still very entertaining.

It's probably quite dated now, but as a primary school kid growing up in the 90's, this show was the bomb. Bring it back, I say.moreless
  • Great show about the strange adventures of a family who live in a lighthouse

Round the Twist features the strange, bizarre and weird adventures of the Twist family who move from the city to the seaside town of Port Niranda and into a lighthouse on a headland there. The lighthouse and town turn out to be home to some strange incidents and bizarre scenarios, when strange things begin to take place. But the family always comes through in the end. The Twists consist of Tony, the father, Fay, who meets Tony during the series, Linda, Pete and Bronson. They all have interesting and good characters. The first seasons were based on books by Paul Jennings, and many note a decline in the later seasons. I too note this decline but still think the show is great until the end, although my favourite episodes are the older ones. There are many memorable moments in this series, and it never fails to amuse or entertain. It breaks much ground and is a pioneer in entertainment. The bizarre plots and great characters create entertaining viewing. A very entertaining show.moreless
  • Round the Twist was possibly the best children's tv show ever made in Australia.

Everyone at school loved Round the Twist, even the teachers. I remember in primary school sometimes, instead of doing sport, the teacher would put in a tape of the old and original round the twist series just to shut us up, and it always worked. Even if we had watched the episodes before, it never grew old for us. When the new series came out (as in the last series that was aired, not like new NEW episodes) the librarians at school ran Round the Twist Lunch Times and aired the new episodes in the library for everyone to watch. And during my early years of high school, the ABC would repeat the episodes after school, and i still watched it. I still would if they put it back on, even though i have finished high school. Round the Twist was funny, it's jokes will never grow old, and the humour will suit absolutely everyone... BRING IT BACK!!!... Here's an interesting trivia piece, the most recent guy who played Bronson, lived in my area and was in my Confirmation Class for Church. All the kids wanted to ask him how much he got paid, but i don't think anyone actually asked him.moreless
