The show started with several short bits and the intros. Dan and Dick had the cast in a police lineup; Don was dressed like a woman. Then the opening monologue had Dick recieving a letter from Washington, only it was a draft notice. Next were The Quickies, including Ernesting saying that some viewers didn't give their mothers a ringy-dingy last week, Don talking with Dick, then Dan; Lily as Susie Sorority, the first party segment, a preview of The Farkel Family, and the debut of Mervin the Magificent. Following were more short bits, the second party segment, Dick and Ruth as the Swizzlers, Tyrone finding Gladys on an airplane, the third party segment, Ernestine calling Aristotle Onassis(and getting his name wrong),and more short bits. Next up, Lily talked to Don followed by the fourth party segment, more short bits, the fifth party segment, a sketch about a number system for objectionable words in court, Lily talking to Don again, Dennis as Chaplain Bud Homily, and the Flying Fickle Finger of Fate Award. Then Don as a Army recruiter examining a near-sighted man(Dennis) and the news, with Ruth and Barbara as wooden soldiers singing the theme song and Don as a German weatherman. Next, the cast took a weird look at show business. Finally, more short bits, Dick trying a ventriloquist act with no success, the good nights, the joke wall, the last short bits, and Don with Wolfgang in the bush.
