    9.0
Somehow you just get the feeling that Evan is going to get Hank in trouble sometime in the near future. He sort of reminds me of Mary's mother and sister on In Plain Sight. They exist just to move the plots forward for Mary. I think Evan is basically the same type of character. Don't get me wrong Paulo Costanzo does a great acting job on Evan. It is the character that is annoying. Maybe tone it down just a bit.

I really enjoyed the two medical pieces to tonight's episodes. Hank got to help someone really in need and then got to build his reputation as a great doctor with the people with the money that will make it possible to do the things he wants to do with his life.

Those puncture wounds can be messy and it was great the way Hank handled the case in general.

Lilly the Senator's wife really was a piece of work. Typical of someone bound and determined to get somewhere with someone else's life. Certainly you can understand the secretive nature of things after what happened to her husband, but the obvious constant driven personality can be hard for others to deal with. You sort of felt sorry for the daughter in the end when she showed she could stand up for herself and her brother who she obviously cared for a lot. Now the expectations may end up all on her!

The Deer Tick solution must be very hard to diagnose unless you have the specifics in front of you. It was amazing the way those deer just came out of nowhere and the fact that Kendrick fell and picked up one of the parasites the way he did.

This episode really showed the expertise of Hank and also showed the competence of his "Medical Associate" Divya. Both did their jobs well and kept the professionalism of the situation in place as well.

That seems to be the problem with Evan. He does not understand when he is infringing on places and things he shouldn't. In other words not professional! He really needs to let Hank do his thing and stay out of his way. Hank is more than willing to let Evan handle the monetary part of the transaction. Luckily Evan did come thru with the 24/7 contract but I can see how that might backfire in the end.

Hank's relationship with Jill seems to be going well. I am surprised Evan didn't screw that up.

Overall almost as good as the Pilot. I took half a point off for Evan's annoying stunts. Thanks for reading...moreless

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • Goof: When Hank removes the tick from the ear, the tick is shown to be relatively small. But more importantly, the tick is shown to be in its natural state, meaning it was NOT engorged with blood. If the tick had been feeding on Kendrick's blood for any length of time, it would have been engorged with blood from feeding. Also since the camera angle is through the magnifying lens looking at the ear straight on, it is improbable that Hank would have been able to see, much less remove the tick without an otoscope with a large ear cone. And why didn't he see it when doing an ear exam during the 'executive physical'?

  • QUOTES (8)

    • Evan: So today, we are gonna meet ten women. They're gonna ask us what we do for a living. We're gonna tell them and we're gonna be so charming about it that at least one of them is gonna be interested in your services.
      Hank: And the other nine?
Evan: They'll be interested in mine.

    • (as Boris and his party leaves)
      Evan: Whooo, man crush!
Hank: You're seduced by anyone with an entourage.

    • Kendrick: I'm gonna go squeeze in some passing drills before lunch.
Hank & Lucy: (to Kendrick, in unison) Don't forget to stretch.
Melody: Your dream come true. Mom times two. (fist-bumps with Kendrick)

    • (as Evan runs into Jill in the street)
Evan: Hey, don't I know you?
Jill: They just don't make pickup lines like they used to.
Evan: I have been labeled a progressive.

    • Evan: (staring at Ms. Newberg's breasts) Uh, you look fantastic, ma'am.

    • Lucy: I have a plan for that boy, not as a dreamer, but as a mother.
Hank: I know you love your son. But you need to stop fixating on his destiny and start worrying about his life, because he can't be president if he's dead.

    • Divya: (talking to Evan on the phone) Just soak some hot towels in household vinegar. Apply the compress for 20 minutes two to four times a day. You'll all be fine by next week, although you'll still be an idiot. (hangs up the phone)
Hank: You'd make a great older brother.

    • Jill: So you and your brother seem pretty different.
Hank: On a good day, very different.

  • ALLUSIONS (2)

    • Hank: (as he walks into a room filled with brand-new hospital-grade medical equipment) Who's your interior designer, Sanjay Gupta?

American neurosurgeon Sanjay Gupta has become a prominent media personality, appearing as CNN's primary medical correspondent. He frequents talk shows and is also a magazine columnist and book author.

    • (after Hank got a call from the dog walker who got bitten)
Evan: Alright, as long as Cujo's not there, I'm good.

Cujo is the name of the rabid ghost-possessed dog in Stephen King's 1981 horror novel of the same name. In 1983, the book was adapted into a feature film starring Dee Wallace-Stone, Ed Lauter, and Billy Jayne.
