The scenes supposedly taking place in Texas and New Jersey were actually all filmed on the same island in New York.
The long drive was filmed in Lido Beach. The convenience store scene was filmed at the Dairy Barn in Long Beach (also seen in the second episode of the USA series Royal Pains). The boat scenes were shot at a marina in Reynolds Channel, east of the border between Point Lookout and Lido Beach. (A nearby boat has a NY registration number.)
Long Beach High School in Lido Beach doubles as Harbour Beach High School.
Filming occurred during Summer 2010.

It is revealed that the "Houston Problem", a report we saw in Spangler's office very early on in the season contained information that described Houston's position in the oil-supply system for the U.S. and it's weaknesses or susceptibilities. One such weakness saw how a tanker sinking in Galveston Bay would have a domino effect that would cripple the nation for months.

As Kale describes in this episode, after Julius Caesar defied the Roman senator Cato's government and crossed the Rubicon river with his army, Cato realized that Caesar would become Rome's dictator. Cato killed himself in an effort to refuse surrendering and so his loved ones could make peace with Caesar. Basically, this shadows what Tom Rhumor has done - killed himself to protect Katherine from the truth.
