Season 2 Episode 6

Regarding Stuie / Garage Sale

Aired Daily 2:00 PM Oct 11, 1992 on Nickelodeon

  • Trivia

    • Regarding Stuie marks the first appearance of Stu Pickles's trademark scream, a stock sound effect consisting of Stu emitting a very loud, girlish-sounding shriek. It is heard both times Stu falls from the roof, and can also be heard in the following episode Garage Sale, when Stu screams among seeing that the babies sold all of their possessions. This scream sound would continue to be used until after 1998.

    • Goof: Stu inadvertently sold his disco suit in the garage sale, but, for some unknown reason, reappeared in his closet in Stu Gets A Job.

    • Goof: In "Garage Sale", how could the babies move the couches, TV, and all the other heavy furnature?

  • Quotes

    • Stuie: (To Tommy) Hi! My name's Stuie! Who're you?
Tommy: H-hi, Stuie, my name's Tommy...
      Stuie: Hi, Tommy. Wanna play?

    • (Stu finishes listing off all his weather vane can do)
Grandpa: Does it tell you which way the wind is blowing?
Stu: I'm working on it, I'm working on it.

    • (Upon seeing the Weather Vane)
Grandpa: What in the name of sassafrass is that?

    • Tommy: Do you have to take your hands off to have a garage sale?

    • Stu: My disco suit, my 8-tracks, my stereo...
Didi: You know, Stu, maybe this isn't such a bad thing. I mean all we lost were material possessions. And what we rediscovered are the important things, like family and love, and other real human values.

    • Didi: Stu! What are you doing wearing that sheet?

    • Grandpa: I can sell a six-slice toaster to a one-man family.

    • (Tommy is trying to teach Stuie how to be a grownup)
Tommy: (Handing Stuie a newspaper) Take it to the bathroom, and don't come out 'til practically forever.

    • Chuckie: Tommy, we can't do that. We're too little.
Tommy: Too little? When we went over the fence to get my ball from the other yard, were we too little then? When we put mud in my daddy's shoe so it'd make squishy noises when he walked, were we too little then? When we filled the potty with jello so the fish wouldn't get hungry, were we too little then?
Chuckie: No, but all those times we got in trouble.
Tommy: We're babies. We're supposed to get in trouble.

  • Notes

    • The title and the scenario is based on Mike Nichols' 1991 motion picture "Regarding Henry", where Henry (played by Harrison Ford) suffered a brain injury and had to relearn everything he did in life, including walking and eating.
