Adam buys a new video game system which he says cost $500 and was difficult to get. However, it is clear that the system he buys is a Playstation 2, which at the time of the episode cost much less than that and was readily available. The intent was probably to allude to Adam buying a Playstation 3, in spite of the Playstation 2 shown in the episode.
