    After a sub-par episode last week, Rules of Engagement rebounded a little bit with installment that featured a few snappy zingers and clever lines but was mostly generic, forgettable dialogue. Rules felt very How I Met Your Mother-y tonight, and that is not a compliment.



    David Spade, who has been funny for nearly a decade and a half on sitcoms such as this, 8 Simple Rules and Just Shoot Me was very forgettable tonight. The lack of effort reminded me of recent Charlie Sheen performances on Two and a Half Men. Just coasting through on average material and not as good as they once were.



    I apologize for all the comparisons to other shows, but sometimes that is the best way to express opinion. This was an okay episode, but I've seen better.moreless

  • Audrey wants to got to marriage counseling and after Jeff sees the doctors online advertisement he's all in. Russell is in trouble as he wants Timmy's fiancee. Adam can't take a picture where he doesn't look gay despite the fact he isn't.moreless

    Alan Ruck stars as Dr. Greenblatt with his Four Pillars of a successful marriage which Jeff really approves of. The scene where Jeff's being Jeff in the doctors office is very funny. Unfortunately it is the highlight of the episode. The rest of the show is humorous, but not in the same way. Spade does bring some charm to his smarmy character though.



    Adam has never taken a good picture it seems. As Timmy says "it takes good, but for some reason it transfers differently to the actually picture". Timmy does figure out how to cure the problem though, "punch Adam in the stomach right before you take the picture". Now what was the picture for you ask? The wedding announcement in the home town newspaper which turns out to have a great picture and an even funnier caption unfortunately for Adam or should I say Madam!



    Finally we have Russell. Everyone tries their pathetic best to get the old Russell back, but he seems to far gone at this point. Not a good turn of events. Why does he all of a sudden have a heart when he acts the way he usually does? Very strange!



    So there were some highs and lows to tonights episode. Fortunately even within repeats of the other Monday Night Comedy Block on CBS it is still pulling really good numbers. One has to believe it will be back next year as a permanent part of the Monday Night team. Thanks for reading...moreless
