An interesting but somewhat predictable story as Rumpole travels north to be jr. counselor to an actress (show business being something he is not very well versed in) accused of shooting her husband. She rather likes Rumpole and dismisses the sr. counsel so Rumpole can defend her on his own. A trip to the scene of the crime helps Rumpole to know his client and the deceased a little better and the shattered mirror in the dressing room where the shooting takes place helps. Through intense questioning and a twist that he throws in, Rumpole gets the job done returns "to the South".moreless
