Soujiro: A building is only as strong as its foundation.
Kenshin:(to Soujiro): The toughest warriors are not those who have the greatest strength or even those with the fastest reflexes. The toughest warriors are those who are willing to lay down their swords and find more constructive ways to answer life's challenges.
Soujiro: I must be free.
Soujiro: That's right! I was smiling in the middle of the rain... But the truth is... (in reality I was crying)
Soujiro: But is it that wrong to be weak? I've killed these people... but I never really wanted to... I didn't want to kill.
Soujiro: Himura-san... your existence disgusts me! You're driving me crazy fighting with you. I don't care what's right or not! With my next stroke... I'll kill you!!
Soujiro: (To Kenshin) It frustrates the hell outta me that you're standing there!
Soujiro: True, I may have been smiling that rainy night... but... the truth is... the truth is, I was crying.
Soujiro: If you are strong, you live. If you are weak, you die. But... is it that bad to be weak?
The full title of this episode is A Duel With an Extreme Moment: Shuntensatsu Versus Amakakeru Ryu no Hirameki!
Soujiro leaves Shishio's service to find is own way in the world and to see for himself if Kenshin's philosophy is the right one, or if Shishio is right.
Kenshin's attack is a success, and Soujiro is defeated. However, Soujiro has uncovered a weakness in the attack, which Yumi relays to Shishio.
Shuntensatsu is Soujirou's Final Attack, much like Kenshin's Amakakeru Ryu no Hirameki. The two attacks are similar in the way they both incorporate battoujutsu, the drawing of the sword. Literally translates to Heaven's Instant Kill.
Soujiro's mind snaps under the weight of his repressed emotions.
