I liked this episode. The most memorable part was when Toma was kinda talking to himself and he slashed that bat into three pieces. Ha. So the whole episode was pretty good with the whole repent theme with Megumi again, except it's with Toma. The fight scene was nice, but wasn't that river the one where Kaoru and that sumo guy fell in and it was totally shallow? Well, so, the end was funny when Sanosuke is talking about how Sasaki and Kenshin aren't manslayers anymore but then Yahiko points out that he hasn't changed at all. Ha Ha... so it was a nice episode, even if it was filler.moreless

This episode and the one before it were both surprisingly good. "A Promise from the Heart" basically picks up where the previous episode left off. Toma prepares to kill Kenshin, Sanosuke, and Sasaki. He attacks Kenshin in the woods but, has to stop because the Jinpu Squad have been assigned their next target.

It turns out that the target is Lord Yamagata. That night, part of Jinpu Squad attacks Sanosuke and Sasaki at the dojo. Toma and the rest stop Yamagata's carriage but, to their surprise, the door opens and Kenshin steps out. Meanwhile, Sano and Sasaki easily defeat their attackers and force them to tell them where the rest of the Jinpu Squad is. Kenshin and the Jinpu Squad begin to fight, and soon, Sano and Sasaki join them. Finally, they are all defeated except for Toma.

Toma attacks Kenshin with his "Shiden Renga Blade" and, Kenshin counters it with the Rykansen (although they do not say that it was). Sasaki explains why Toma's attack did not work, just as Yamagata and the chief arrive with the senator that had hired the Jinpu Squad. He claims he has never seen them before and Toma attacks him. The senator screams, confesses, and calls Toma a "blood-thirst killer". Toma finally understands what Kenshin and Sasaki have been telling him, and prepares to commit suicide. Sasaki stops him and tells him that he must live and serve his sentence as retribution for the lives that he had taken.

All in all, this two-part filler was actually pretty good and I would reccomend it to any Rurouni Kenshin fan, even those who absolutely despise fillers.moreless
